Thoughts on Dynamic Deliveries?
I have no idea if I've posted about this topic before, but it's been something I have been thinking about for the longest time. I figured I either posted about it years ago and it got no attention or haven't posted it before, bt I'm really curious as to what the community thinks of this idea.

My idea: Dynamic deliveries. What are dynamic deliveries, you may ask? Well, it's simple. There are multiple delivery sites and cargo pickup locations around the map. What if we had an influence on how they ran? I'm not meaning anything ridiculous like a stock market or market prices affected by deliveries, while that still falls under the term dynamic deliveries, that's not what I want. That's much too complicated for a lot of people, as well as the developers. No, what I want is something akin to construction of delivery or pickup locations. For example, company BuildMe Incorporated is located in Eureka, California. Now, they're building a new location in Los Angeles, California. (Technologically speaking, this isn't affected by days or anything, this is just a discoverable location. It is always there, you just need to find it first). BuildMe Inc. seeks supplies from outside resources in order to continue work so BuildMe Inc. sends you an e-mail once you discover the location. They tell you the supplier location and the type of delivery (Lumber, Concrete, you get the idea). You deliver this to that location and then the contruction site improves. (Technologically speaking, it will just be a different static model. Nothing realtime, the location will just change to a static model). Once it is done, this does provide you with a new delivery location in the area. I'm currently assuming maybe after 5 deliveries (Construction stages), the location will be complete.

Now, beyond immersion and feeling like you're making a difference, how does this benefit the player? Well, I have some idea as to how it could work. Either A: BuildMe Inc. opens a contract with you offering an additional #% increase on all deliveries to BuildMe Inc. locations that increases with each new property built. B: You don't get paid during standard supply deliveries but are paid an overall lump sum that exceeds standard costs once the building is complete, also opening it up as a deliverable location.

It's a thought that I would really enjoy in terms of gameplay as it includes immersion, progression, and a sense of accomplishment while also adding an interesting new mechanic and method of earning money. In terms of technology, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement, although I understand it is a massive change and does require work for both assets (Different phases of construction) and adjusting the map (New locations or overwriting old ones). What does the community think of this idea? Post revisions and why you are/are not against it below. Looking forward to reading the responses!

I'm not sure the changing of the model could be implemented. I think it would take some major code changes. If think about it, the only model in the game that currently does that are garages and are in no way tied to the job market. I don't know, but this seems like it would just be difficult to implement.

I kinda like the idea of jobs/contracts that are multiple deliveries in general. This seems like it would take alot to implement, but seems more feasible to accomplish.

Yeah, it does seem like it could be. I know SCS uses their own engine so it may be more or less difficult to accomplish on the basis of that. Even if it doesn't allow the physical model to change, I'd compromise for a delivery counter. The multiple stage deliveries are the key concept of this, I would love for that to be seen at one point.

ATS has very little dynamic features and most aspects are based on illusion and text rather than real-world goings on.

Dynamic elements have been heavily requested in the last few years; from improved weather systems, real-time accidents and events and being able to see your own fleet on the road but technical restrictions, engine limitations and developement complexity have been common reasons as to why such things aren't in the game.

It would be nice to have dynamic events in-game that impact the map or locations based on the deliveries you make but the developers have to balance whether something is viable and if it can be done. Things like owned trailers were requested for years and took a lot of work to implement yet they've been a bit of an underwhelming inclusion.

would be great to see multi-drop contracts but can't see it happening for a while. don't lnow about the continent but in the UK the majority of multi-drop work is underaken using rigid/BDF trucks.
