Force feedback wheel centering
What is the setting that has the wheel returning to center in a turn like a real vehicle steering wheel does? I had it working before but now it doesnt and I forget the setting.

Thanks.

I cant remember if its in the ATS settings itself or in your wheels control menu, however I believe its literally just called autocentre or something of the sort, however force feedback should auto centre your wheel anyway? What type of wheel do you have?

There's a setting in the controls menu of the game under force feedback, it's a slider labeled "centering." Your wheel's control profile may have a setting for it aswell

I have a G29.

There should be an option in your controller profile then for "spring centering." This is a more unrealistic approach to take however, so I suggest using the in-game settings

Look into what Emperor said, and yeah also look in your logitech device manager tool thingy as well and change the settings there

A real steering wheel does not return to center by itself. It does only if there some speed or strong accelerating. The more speed, the more centering. Autocenter in the driversoftware should be set to zero.

Since the ingame FFB is pretty poor, I suggest this plugin, if you are in a bit of tinkering:

It's v2.5, get the 2.5.1 dll here:
http://sharemods.com/6purg6cnq045/Real_G27_ffb_x64.dll.7z.html

However, it's user made, developpment seems to pause right now, but it's intensely used by hardcore players, thread is still active. You may have bad luck and it won't work. But usually, there's always a way.

Finally it will feel like a real steering wheel. If you had it for 10 Minutes, you stop play without it. Be aware: Since the old ingame roads are mostly plain flat, there's not much road feed back. But the new logging roads in Oregon will put a smile on your face!

Thanks.

Make sure the 'Enable Centering Spring' checkbox in your Logitech software is UNchecked.

In-game -> Options -> Controls:
Under FFB settings, adjust the FFB centering slider toward the right. The further to the right, the stronger the castor steering gets.

Right, exactly how it is in game.
As for the feedback being poor, opinions vary,
I find no issues at all on a G27, so no idea what you're complaint is.

After 12 years of sim racing the FFB is extremely poor in comparison.
Seeing as we are driving and not racing trucks plus they are getting increasingly "easier and more comfortable" to drive I suppose the FFB is as expected.
Smooth and boring on tarmac and on dirt all it does is rattle, definitely doesn't make me smile.

Modern trucks are a piece of cake on the wheel IRL. And besides, FFB could never duplicate the handful of an old Mack on a logging road anyway.
