Lift Axle Physics ? + Weigh Scale Idea
Is there actually any physics implicated in the game that would lead to you benefiting lifting your drop axles for turns? i have close to 650 hours and iv always thought about whether or not its actually worked into the game, i remember long ago a physics mod that added this feature. It actually made it very hard to turn until you lifted the tri-drive axle on the truck , it ended up lifting the steers slighly off the ground to the point you had minimal traction until the lift axles went up.

With the new beta and being able to have different axle widths on your trailers and drop axles etc. would lead me to believe there is some sort of phyics for this in the base game . Can anyone confirm? It would be great to have extra tire wear, on the lift axles on your trailers and any tri-drive tires as a penalty for not lifting around 90 degree turns , as well as your trailer not being as manuverable with the axles down vs being up exsecially when revesring .

Which leads me to another feature that should work with this (Slidable Trailer Axles). It would be awesome if they worked in a better weigh scale feature to work around all of this ( i know its a dream). In which depending on your weight / axle spread and number of axles. Would determine how big of a fine you get, or if any when going through a scale. There is already trailer configs specific to that states highway laws. Why couldnt we have weight laws to, it would all tie things together so well , Any Thoughts?

The only in game benefit is to help you making a turn

iv never noticed it actually making it harder to turn with them down?

I found that in the beta trailers' lift axles have some tweaked physics. After configuring a 53' trailer with four axles I went to lower all when maneuvering and raise two when entering a highway. The slightest bump in the road slowed me down immensely and after taking a look at my truck + trailer in 3rd person mode I saw that when using only two axles, the whole trailer dropped several inches whereas it kept on the same level when using all four axles.

TLDR: I guess in 1.32 trailer physics will include proper lift axle physics based on cargo's weight.

typically only lift them for sharp turns in yards and parking lots and such.

When they are down it wont help in turning because you are dragging one of the axles and scuffing the tire and putting a strain on the tractor and trailed when loaded.. They make no logical sense. unless you are going in a straight line. But turning...NO...

a few of you miss my point completely i know how drop axles work IRL lol im asking if the physics are implicated in the game to make them feel more realistic

good to know thanks looks like they are on there way to adding something close to real life as posible , see what happens when they take it out of beta mabye they will improve on that more

In the beta I tried this a few different times backing my trailers (especially the 53 ft trailer) in to be loaded and it seems like they turn so much easier with them up than down.

The physics are applied in game, as well as additional tire wear if they are dropped. You will be able to notice it more easily if you make a 90° turn and lift the axle mid-way.

That's what I meant - lift them when turning
