Usage of Triple Axles, too common?
When trailers were added, they limited what trailers you could purchase or what configurations you could have based on real life state limitations/laws.

Yet, they didn't add similar restrictions on the use of Triple axles which I find strange.

I'm not sure of what the laws are governing triple axle trailers or how frequent they are, also, I'm not entirely sure they are legal in all states?

I thought they were only legal in a few states (Arizona being one of them) and are typically used point to point between major centers?

Someone could perhaps clarify this?

In my game at least (no mods), I'm noticing triple axle trailers show up in almost every single Quick or Freight job (the standard ones) and the online jobs now.

Before 1.32, I rarely saw triple axles with the exception of the tanker. Now they are popping up everywhere to the point where I guess they are legal all over the U.S.?

And yes I know ATS isn't just the U.S. but will eventually cover Canada/Mexico/Central South America, so I don't know what the laws are over there.

Perhaps others can chime in on this and clear things up?

I didn't think triple axles were as common as the game is currently making them out to be.

They are used all over, more in some states than others. Where I live 3 axle trailers are mainly dump & RGN. Farther west, a lot of livestock trailers are, too

There are a lot of 3 axle trailers, but the are just not that common in some places. Now most heavy equipment trailers are 3 axle. But there a more 2 axle then 3...

It´s because it´s related to axle-weight, boggie-weight, and triple-axle weight limitations. basically every road has restrictions regarding how much axle-weight a vehicle can legally have.
A single-axle trailer can´t have as much payload as an boggie-axle on the same road. And a boggie can´t have as much as a triple.
Legally you can drive anywhere with a triple, assuming you´re not to long or wide otherwise.

But I would like to see restrictions implemented to make it more of an thing to plan a trip.

Not sure about California current laws. From 1972 thru 2006 California did not recognize the third axel on a tractor and or trailer. Restricted to 34,000 LBS unless the third axel has a 8 ft spread. Centere of axel to centere of axel.
34,000 Lbs for the tandem axels and 20,000 Lbs for the 8 ft spread = 54,000. Prior to de regulation around 1978 California was 32,000 Per tandem and 20,000 per single axel. GVW 73,280. Current 80,000 GVW with out permits. 34,000 Per Tandem..

Only time you see a tri axel set up on Double drop decks rated at 45 tons plus in the 40 ft pan up to 60 ft in the pan extended. Texas Trail King Double Drops and & Low Boys. Why there is jeeps made for the bridge laws. Jeep will allow for additional 34,000 Per Tandem 8 ft spread from front drive axel to front axel on the Jeep. California restrictions per bridge laws.

Colorado 36,000 per tandem 20,000 Steer GVW 80,000 Interstate, State Roads GVW 96,000 LBs may be restricted depending on the Bridge Length. 45 Ft Minimum.
Utah Could permit for 36,000 Per Tandem 80,000 GVW. Other 14 Western states is 34,000 per tandem 20,000 Single axel 80,000 GVW. Exception Permited Loads.

Yeah been playing ATS and doing quick jobs. I find my trailers have triple axles. You never ever see triple axles in the U.S. on trailers. At least I don't. In fact the first time I saw a triple axle trailer was in the game! I love the game but I think maybe ATS got this little detail wrong. The developers are from the Czech Republic. I think an American programmer wouldn't have 3 axle trailers as common as they make it in the game.

Tri axles are not super common. Most triple axles are for heavy duty trailers (such as low boys) or other odd weight trailers. While I don't know what CA regulations on it are, to my knowledge triple axle trailers are legal in most states. But triple axles are not often used because of the 80,000lbs max weight laws that most states use and having a extra axle eats into that more then just allowing some sliding tandems, along with more wear and tear parts (tires, brakes, suspension ect). They are much more common though in Canada and most tri axles I've seen in New England area are from Canada.
