dry van
k so i started over for the beta. i had to do a few quick jobs, got my bank loan for my kenworth, did some freight market trips, as long as possible and most money. got to lvl 6.. noticed i could get a trailer now. the dry van. grabbed it.
but dang. i understand its little and whatnot. but why bother with it =D
they want to pay like 8k for a load from tucson arizona to north california. lol. might as well stick with the freight market and get 4-5 times that with a normal trailer.
other than roleplay i guess (or your scared to park trailers?).. i just dont see a reason to use one of those. dont try to say for the power of the low end trucks.. the lowest end ones can still haul a normal trailer quite easily. i even did all heavy hauls using my newbie truck.

You can change the size of the trailer. They go all the way up to 53'.

From what I've seen so far there's really no advantage in having your own trailer. You get really limited to what type of cargo you can get and sometimes you can't find any jobs in the city you're in. Also the jobs you find in the Cargo Market don't pay as much as the ones in the Freight Market.

SCS needs to rethink the economy aspect of trailer ownership because right now it doesn't make any sense to have your own trailer except for aesthetic reasons.

Some trailers have less cargo available. I purchased sliding tarp trailer and so far was able to find cargo anywhere I go

As you increase in skill level the prices go up per load, besides you still have the choice between the two, depends on your style. Personally I'm glad trailer ownership is back.

The balancing isn't really there yet. With urgent cargo and hazard classes you can pretty much move litteral truck loads of Dynamite for 90+$ per mile from one place to the next. Not even the highest paid heavy loads make you that much on the Freigth Market.

That only works with dry vans though, reefers are utterly useless at the moment...at least as far as "making the most money" goes.

I still can't even get jobs with a reefer, but I just move explosives all the time anyways. Makes hella good money.

You don't get a whole lot of choices with a reefer and I am at level77. I started pulling dry box and I get a ----ton of offers for a dry box. SpritFire, Actually I like the tough economy. In real life you would probably get no more than a grand to make the trip you are talking about. SCS wants to make it as realistic as possible and I aplaud it! Gotta bust your butt to make things work!

There's no realism in getting more money for hauling somebody else's trailer instead of your own.

Why would you buy a fully customized trailer for the price of a new truck and get no benefit at all except looking cool?

Did you economy reset/sleep alot to get jobs for the reefer?

I was disappointed at first, but if I find myself without a load for, say, my flatbed double, I just drop it, "send" it back to my garage. and take whatever is available from the freight market. Seems to work for me (apart from now having my flatbed half a Continent away)
WanderingFido Aug 10, 2020 @ 8:07pm
So which trailer is best for most jobs? I keep using a b-double reefer to haul dynamite. Which seems like overkill. I thought the dynamite jobs would still be listed if I were to switch to a sliding-tarp trailer. No dice. But I've bought a few b-double reefers now for the hired workers to keep options open. Is that a waste of money?
