Is buying trailers worth it?
I just fired the game up yesterday to check out the new trailer features.

Now I am wondering. Is buying trailers worth it? The rates aren't really much higher.

Also am I limiting myself too much with buying trailers? I want to go to every state without worrying which trailer I take. And I don't wanna mod the game.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Any trailer will do. If you look at the cargo being moved you should have slightly more $/mile when using your own trailer vs using the trailer provided in Freight Market.

But as I said, there are many more cargoes available in Freight Market that you can not yet take with owned trailers. So you will likely always find loads showing more $/mile but they are cargoes you wouldn't have available on your owned trailers.

Thanks for your replay. This, to me, means my question is answered with "no it's not worth to buy your own trailer". ^^
As of right now from what I seen in beta was that owning trailers is really for those that just wanted to own them lol. Where as the freight market allows you to pick and choose what you pick up and haul, owning a trailer and using it will only allow jobs for that trailer. I think I personally will enjoy this more with Ohio release because it seems I will be able to own a logging trailer and that's what I really want to do (hopefully the jobs will extend out of Ohio into other states). But yes if you're wanting to go out and make the best money, owning a trailer atm isn't going to get you that atm.

You don't have to buy trailers. You can continue to use the Freight Market in the same way as you have been.

I bought 6 trailors and put 2 in 3 of my garages. My AI drivers were earning just hundreds of dollars instead of thousands of dollars just after the update, (its been spoken about on here already about the new economy) BUT when i put them their trailors in, AI back upto earning thousands of dollars per job with them trailors so i think worth it. I will be buying mostly Reefers until the new trailor update for ADR and lowloaders come available.

Thanks. But is it worth to buy em? I.e. earning more cash?

You and your drivers will earn a bit more $/mile but for now there are not so many trailer types nor cargoes for the trailers so you are a bit restricted.

Which trailer do I have to buy to earn more cash? Because in my first tests I didn't see any difference.

I still bought some trailers for my AI drivers now because all of them were making loss. Let's see if those with trailers or without perform better.

not worth it for me.. I enjoy the freedom of picking any job I want anywhere without any hussle up with the trailers and just go from there... the only good thing last patch had in store for me was the option to disable parking brake at startup but then we didn't have it before the privious patch that introduced in the first place...

Also the biggest problem, as mentionned by Ryu, is the fact we cannot access all trailers.

For example, if you check the overall market, you'll realize that comonly, the most paying trailers are the fuel ones (and a few heavy haul). So I decided to buy garage in cities that I know they have fuel contracts.. so indeed, if I could own my own fuel trailer, i'll be happy :P

But maybe it's still worth it for AI drivers?!

Anyone know the answer to this yet? I don't ever plan to use the trailers myself, but I'm wondering if it's worth buying them for the AI.

I stopped my tests and sold all the trailers. I need some intel on this before diving into it. And there is NO clear information about the economics of the trailers IMO.
