I'd use shifter paddles which you usually operate with your first three fingers. Keep in mind that you will have to do a lot of pressing the same button and that finding an easy-to-use shifting pattern takes some time and includes skipping of gears, especially when using the Eaton Fuller 18 speed transmission.
Finding a shifting pattern for the G920 shifter is a task for itself, too, but I imagine it to be easier to remember and to actually execute.
There is nothing wrong with an H pattern shifter. Use a 6 speed transmission so you don't have to worry about hi/low ranges or splitting gears.
Right up for neutral
Realistic automatic gear, and then set the shifters 3'rd gear position to forward dring and the 4'th gear position to reverse driving.
