New PC. So... did I lose EVERYTHING?
I started the game for the first time since months and on a new PC, to play the Oregon DLC.
Game started and prompted me to create a profile, like I never had one (of course I had one, I had the map fully discovered and everything 100%ed etc).
I checked on the store and I noticed there's no Cloud.
Simple, calm, serafic question: did I lose EVERYTHING?

Yes you have lost it all unless you still have your old computer then you can copy over your files and your right where you left off.

Ok...
Another simple, calm, serafic question... does Euro Truck Simulator 2 work the same way?

If you link your profile to world of trucks, does that save it for you online? I never did that but that's what I thought that did.

Also is it a single file that you can backup on google drive for example?

I think it's the "American Truck Simulator" folder in your Documents.
Never thought I had to manually backup a savefile folder in friggin 2018... guess I'm done with these games, no way I'm going to play them all from scratch after all the time and resources I've spent. What a shame.

It's a single folder, "profile" that you can sync to Google drive.

It's in your documents American truck simulator

PS. You can use a mod to boost your XP and money in a glimpse.

There are mods in the workshop which give you xp and money so you can quickly get back to where you were.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=928465507&searchtext=money+and+xp

Since the game updated to 1.32 I and the economy was changed with that update I don't know if the mod still works but you can try it and see. If it works I suggest you use the quick jobs and choose the lesser amounts as some of these mods give ridiculous amounts of money and xp.

Anyway, it is an option for you instead of throwing in the towel. I never mind starting over again and do it farily often, by choice I might add. However, I understand you are a bit upset at the moment.

Installed a new ssd and found out the hard way saves are stored locally. I just used cheat engine memory editor and gave me cash and experience to rush through leveling up again.

Everything is stored locally, old school (sometimes this can be a good thing as cloud saves can get corrupted as well as you can't swap in a back up). So back up the ATS My Documents folder regularly and you'll be a happy camper!

Guys thanks but I never used mods and never will. I had a game progress that was MINE, playing a game progress artifically created by mods could maybe bring me to the same point I was before, but it just wouldn't feel the same. At all.
Remember to always backup your data guys. I deleted the game from my PC, removed the upcoming DLCs from my wishlist and, for me, it's the end of the SCS road.

So, where/when was the announcement that all games made currently are supposed to have online backup? Because in my experience, thiat is few and far between, it's not like you're playing an MMO. Also, every time I've got a new PC, I've always used the old HD as a backup... and with current tech, it doesn't take much to install it into an open internal bay, or convert the internal HD to an external one then hook it up to your USB port.

Bunch of complaining over nothing. Guess you're done with almost all games, including STEAM games. Just stick with the MMOs.

I respect that you never use mods. However, giving up on the game because you lost your progress, really?! Not into games then or just never really liked playing ATS?

I lost my progress in ETS2 years ago because I changed my computer. I didn't spit the dummy and throw in the towel. I just started all over again and back then I never used any mods as well. If you genuinely enjoy playing a game who cares about progress, you fall flat on your face and you pick yourself up and start over again. If that is just too hard for you, then adios!

I find it refreshing to start over. Have done it several times already. Since I'm a streamer I do have a profile specifically for streaming. I also have a profile for multiplayer.

I have started over on other profiles about 5 times now. Bought the game on Thanksgiving Day 2016. When I have done this I have always found something that I had missed before during my travels.
