A question about sleeping
I have the fatigue turned off on my current game but was thinking of starting over with more realism, ie fatigue, fines etc (yes I have fines turned off as well)

My question is, when you sleep, how much time passes? Or is it dependent on how tired you are (how full the fatigue bar is)?

Or maybe a better question would be, how much time passes when you sleep and the fatigue bar is at max? I worry about being late if I have to sleep too long, but have also read a few threads where that almost never happens unless you are taking a load with an on-time delivery requirement.

Don't depend on how tired you are. If I dont make a mistake, it's roughly 8h that you sleep. If i'm wrong then someone should correct me! :P

And it's always the same time no matter how filled up the tiredness bar is filled up. You can even sleep without being tired at all.

8 hours sleep time and best way to avoid is make sure you sleep b4 each job unless its a short haul. also keep track with the f1 thingy and see how much time left on job vs your current arrival time and yes normal cargo really have to be doing 10 mph every where to be late lol

edit agree with Cmdo above

This is right.

Just want to add that if you take a WoT contract, it's NEVER affected by sleeping...

And the speacial heavy cargo also resets your fuel to full and sleep

It's about 9 hours, regardless of how much fatigue you have. It should be noted that any freight jobs on offer will account for you needing a break if the ETA is after your next manditory rest break.

We do! :O

When you're too tired, you still have a little amount of time to find a truckstop before it's too late. :P

What to know in the end:

Contracts where you dont use your own truck: you never really have to care, tiredness is empty and fuel is full
Contracts where you use you own truck: sleep first as Dauntai said so you start a job fully rested (and fill your tank of fuel at same time, will make your travel easier)
WoT contracts: do whatever you want as long as you make sure to not run out of fuel ot get stuck on a road with no rest stop and you're too tired

Really, hardest part of the sleeping feature is to calculate your travel to make sure you sleep before it's too late. Usually, you want to sleep when the tiredness bar is filled up as much as possible but before it's too late and you fall asleep on road. It's something you'll manage to learn quickly after driving for awhile with the sleep bar feature. ;)

10 hours is the amount of time that passes just as the regulations state that all truck drivers are required to take a minimum 10 hour break each day in order to reset their 11 hour drive clock and 14 hour total work day.

wow thanks everyone for the quick response and the amazing information. I was always a bit scared to try the fatigue but it seems that it's pretty straight forward and as long as I sleep before taking a job and keep an eye on the fatigue bar I should be fine.

still not adding in fines yet, I break too many rules to do that (drive in two lanes on highway, speed constantly, turn on red light or roll through a red light if no traffic...the list goes on)

Just turn them on, you will change your driving pretty fast ;)
