G920 Logitech H-Shifter will not find 6th goes into reverse instead of 6th gear..
I got a logitech HShifter with my G920 Wheel and to cut to the chase i cannot put it in 6th gear, when im in the input wizard for HShifter it shows you a map of what gear it is in as you change gear, what should be 6th gear is reverse gear. Its like 6 doesnt exist. I am not sure if my hshifter which i havent used until now is faulty or im doing something wrong?

Has anyone else had this issue?

You can map your shifter in the Controls options so just assign the gears to what you want.

Just to add, you can also do that in the Wizard.

I had the opposite issues with my G27 shifter. I didn't have a reverse anymore after like 1500 hours. By 2000+ hours, I had enough and claimed warranty on it. Got a brand new G29+shifter as replacement.

But uh, go onto the Logitech Support Forum, make a ticket and see what troubleshooting steps they have for you. If this is an ATS only issue and does not happen in other games, then state that please.

Another thing, open the Game Controllers window > Properties on the G920 and see if a light comes on when you put it into 6th and again when you put it into reverse. Let's try narrowing down the problem this way.

Thanks for your replies.

@Willy.J.K I tried that initially, then i saw in a YT video a how to set up a H-Shifter (same model as mine) and they used the wizard, so i tried that out and was able to see on its graphic layout of stick an input signal denoting which gear i put it in. It seems and feels like there is no reverse gear and 6th gear is being used by the game as reverse.

@ReesesCup, its a G920 wheel, but i guess advice is still valid. My Logitech configurer program seems to crash all the time lately. Didnt before. I did try to see if that could give me some info on possible problem. I cannot put it in 6th it seems to go from 5th to reverse instead of 6th or from N to 6 it goes into reverse.

I will try the logitech forums as well.

Sorry, I was talking about a G27 with another user recently and after I mentioned my story I guess G27 was the only thing on my mind. Your new response makes me think the sensor in the shifter for 6th/reverse got moved or blocked by something. Should only be grease in there unless you've opened it up. But, I'm only guessing at this point.

The shifter internals, baring the lack of buttons, is the same on the G27 and G29/G920.

I brought this wheel in last year in Dec mainly for sim racing and didnt use the H-Shifter its been in its box since. I haven't opened it up. Hopefully i can get to the bottom of this, in the meantime i could use a wheel button for reverse perhaps as a workaround.

The H-shifter in the game expects a held key. The only option(unless you have a USB button encoder which I doubt) is to set reverse to another position on the shifter. Or since you're on manual anyway, you coud use the Eaton Fuller shift layout.

Reverse | 1st/5th | 3rd/7th LL/LH | 2nd/6th | 4th/8th
With each numbered position having a high and low.

Sounds like it's probably busted but if you bought it new last Dec it should still be under warranty so I'd suggest contacting Logitech and filing a warranty claim.

Make sure you wheel is plugged into a USB2 port directly on your computer and not a USB3 port or a USB-hub.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. At last resort I will send it back to where i brought it from if i cant solve this thing myself.

As for the usb port, i am using the usb port in the front of my tower thinking they are prob usb2? but i will try the port in the back tomorrow and see if that makes any difference. Also will try and re-download the logitech settings app as it tends to crash very easily, if i can get it to run it might shed some light on the prob perhaps.

In the meantime i will try out that Eaton Fuller Shift layout too.

I will update progress later. Cheers.

Just on the off chance you're not aware; to configure the reverse gear right, you need to push the stick down and then slide it to the bottomright (where 6th gear is when you're not pushing it down).

Okay i got it now, i miss understood you when you said press down. I had to watch a video, then realised you need to literally push downwards, when you had said push down i was thinking moving gear stick down towards me (not downwards to the floor).

The instructions with the shifter didnt seem to mention this important little detail.

So i got it working :) cool bananas. Hopefully this thread will be helpful for others who get caught out as well. Thanks everyone for your input and help.

ok I know I'm extremely late to this but basically while in neutral you can push down the shift to 6th and that's a completely different key to 6th. This fixed my issues so hope it helps you if you haven't figured it out yet

I know I am extremely late but I think I have a solution, I experience the same issue with my shifter, its a cable conection issue or an issue with the shifter's cable, I recomend taking it apart and checking if everything is correct, use some contact cleaner.
