I get an average of 45ish fps when driving around doing jobs in game, for around 2-3hours rl. But whenever I go into the map or press escape, instant 250+fps. The gpu gets way hotter and uses upwards of 280+watts which is more than some 1070s and 1080s. Temps hovers around 60c to 65c when just driving around. But in the main menu it shoots up to 69c, never hits 70. This card is very good managing its temps, expecially when its using 280+watts. Also the power usage is way lower when driving around. It uses 195watts-205watts. Compared to 280+, thats a big difference.
The main menu thrashes my gpu that needs to be fixed lol. Unless theres a way enable that when driving around, and then i'll be happy with 150+fps lmao.
technically, once dx11 is fully implemented it should help for that
technically...
I guess so lol. Doesn't the game have dx11 support? I thought it did lol? My 660 does the same thing as my 970, so even an older gpu has the same issue with the game. Shocked me at first, as I never seen my 970 use that much power.. Holds a strong 1580mhz in game, in the main menu once it hits its power limit, it drops to nearly 1490mhz.
The game has the gpu thing backwards lol, mainmenu seems to get all of the juice meanwhile the actually driving part only gets half of it. I'm wanting to get an 1070/1080, but clearly my gpu is plently for 2018/19 lol. Until things get past the 4gb vram limit, is when I'm forced to buy a new gpu. My 660 is barely holding in there anyways.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough.
Your monitor highest refresh rate is 75Hz, meaning it cannot * work with datas that are sent to him faster than 75 times per second. If it receives them at 150, 500 or 2000 times per second, that monitor will reject everything that is above * that 75 limit.
Your VSync is off, meaning the monitor does NOT tell the GPU when it's ready to receive new datas, so the GPU creates all the datas it can (the " 100% / 250+ fps / 280+ watts ") in hope that some of them will be accepted by the monitor. But, even if most of them are rejected, the GPU * still created them, * consuming power and generating heat.
Your GPU has * less issues doing the rendering (" generating new datas ") in a closed space with no animations, than in an open space filled with moving object (garage / map / main menu vs cities / highways). In the garage, the GPU has very little work to do, so it can generate * way more (250+ fps), thus getting hotter (69c, only, because it's throttled). In the cities, the GPU struggles so much than it generates less (45fps), yet * it's not that much cooler (60-65c).
The main menu does not need to be fixed, never had. And it doesn't thrash your GPU. You need to enable VSync, or limit your GPU output to 75 FPS.
*edit: correcting some angrish
In addition, consider to use an additional framerate limiter like Riva Tuner Statistics Server to fix framerate in addition to V-Sync. What this does is in addition to synchronizing GPU output to monitor refresh rate is to even out frame time which adds a minor yet notable smoothness in transition of images being displayed.
Heres a photo of the inside of my pc... I'll link a newer photo tomorrow if anyone wants to see...

Its much cleaner now, no more dust and way more fans. I also have an AIO water cooler in there now too with some g.skill trident z 3200mhz ram.
