What happens to a modded town's garage when DLC takes over?
Suppose I had a map expansion add-on and I bought a garage somewhere in Oregon, which I stocked with trucks and drivers. What happens to them (garage, drivers, and trucks) when the official Oregon map comes out?

The DLC would more than likely conflict with the mod and the map mod would have to be removed and the trucks sold, as they probably wouldn't work either after the update.., unless they were the default trucks...

I see Mantrid removing Oregon from Coast to Coast, like he did with New Mexico when it was released.

I would move the trucks to another location, if available. More than likely the map mod will cause a conflict or the garage won't be in the same city, same location and the like.

I haven't done much with add-ons yet, hadn't considered that there'd be custom trucks. I figured the town would get rewritten though, so it makes sense that the garage would get erased. Thanks for answering!

That makes sense, thanks. This is all hypothetical; I'm pretty casual and haven't done much with add-ons yet. I figured though that even the city was still there and still had a garage, it probably wouldn't be in the same place. Good to know that I could at least save the trucks and drivers.

It is also a good idea to sell the garages you bought in that state after you move all your trucks and drivers to other garages. And if possible, move all trucks, drivers, then sell the garages that are in any state outside the base game, just in case everything related to the map mod is broken, not just the new state.

This just happened to me when ver 1.31 came out. I had garages all over the country. The game would crash when I tried to load it, so I had to do a restart and turn off my C2C, Canadream, and Viva Mexico mods. Then it started up and repositioned my tractor at my home base in Phoenix. All my drivers and tractors that were not within Ca, Az, Nv, or NM were just listed as N/A as far as their base locations. It did allow me to reassign the tractors and drivers to my garages in the original four states. Then I was able to sell all the garages that were now listing as N/A as far as location. It took awhile for all the drivers to get to their respective garages, a couple that were in the eastern US and Canada took up to 121 game time hours to travel back. This caught me by surprise though, I knew the 1.31 update was coming, but didn't know when, it automatically downloaded when I started Steam. In the case of the DLC for Oregon, since you have to purchase it, you'll have the opportunity to be prepared. As others pointed out above, you should move all your tractors and drivers back to one of the original states, sell the garages outside of those original 4 states, and I would wait until all those drivers and tractors make it back to their assigned bases before I install the update. Also turn off all your map mods until they are updated for the new DLC. Also make a copy of your game saves folder before adding the new DLC.

If the mod still works it will overwrite the DLC by default. So you shouldn't run into issues, however it is more than likely the map mod would require an update, if this is the case then when you add the DLC and disable the map mod you could run into issues.

If there are safe guards in place, then the HQ might stay registered and move to the DLC location, but it really comes down to the mod.

Best option is to move your garage/trucks/drivers to another state just to be safe.

Had this happen to me with ProMods when Scandinavia and France came out, nothing really happened, I still had the garage in the city, everything the same.

My experience with Promods is that garages in cities with the same name will still be there but garages in cities not in the DLC will be gone including the trucks and drivers assigned there. Promods recommends selling all your garages in the affected area before updating to the new DLC.

Nope, all data is kept separate. I've never had to sell garages that only existed in mod maps that I've turned off and that's in many years of ETS and ATS. The software has always been written to ignore map mod issues. The mod map garages simply don't exist anymore and trucks and drivers can be reassigned where desired. Mod Trucks are another issue, and they can corrupt game saves if turned off before being sold off.
