Why are there no Detroit Diesels?
I love detroits, but i am strictly mod free and workshop free. Any ideas why they dont have any in the game?

Detroit Diesel doesn't make engines for PACCAR trucks.

Yeah, I grew up in Detroit, I'm staging a protest for lack of fair representation of Detroit Diesel in ATS..! :steamhappy::steammocking:

You may have, but it would have been an aftermarket modification. Currently, DD only makes engines for Freightliner and Western Star.
Paccar wasn't making "Big Bore" engines in the U.S until around 2010, and relied heavily on other diesel engine manufactures like Cat & Cummins up til then.

I don't know if Detriots were original equipment in Kenworth's or Pete's, but i'd imagine they were in the 80's & 90's, especially as the Series 60 was considered the best engine out there, soon after it was introduced.

If they did add them would they sound the same as the stock engines in the game or would they have the distinct Detroit roar?

i have 2 trucks with detroit 60 series in both.

If they added them, then I would want them to add bump starting! That way, if someone bump started their Detroit rolling backwards, they could experience 18 reverse gears and 4 forward ones!! And they'd have to add a old mud flap to shut the engine down!! :steamhappy:

SCS isn't going to add them. It would be a licensing limitation at the very least. If you want a Detroit engine in your PACCAR truck, it will have to be a mod.

After Freightliner bougt Detroit they stopped sales to other manufacturers. Prior to that, almost everybody used the Series 60.
