First thing I do after starting the engine is turn the running lights and the low beam headlights on day and night.

I think that trucks and buses are legally required to keep headlights on at all times. But I like to turn mine off during the day.

Many locations require daytime running lights when a vehicle is in operation. Unfortunately a lot of vehicles prior to the last few years have no DRL's to speak of. Therefore they are required to have their headlights on at all times unless they're parked(where they need parking lights) or if the vehicle is turned off and not occupied.

Me? To avoid any conflict, I turn my healights on always because you never know where the DRL-law will apply.

Are DRL's a 'legal' requirement? To the best of my knowledge they are only now fitted to vehicles as a secondary safety item. Here in Oz, DRL's are not mandantory on any new vehicle. It's also technically illegal to use fog and/or auxiliary lights in any weather condition apart from fog and/or rain.

I don't know about other states, but here in Montana trucks aren't required to run DRLs. I've seen several driving down the interstate during the day with their lights off.

I run with lights on at all times. If the engine's running, so are all headlights, running lights and markers.

I even dim my highbeams for oncoming traffic at night (unless I'm on a divided road).

I do. Not the fog lights but the head lights are on..

I'm sure it varies from state to state. I have my headlights on all the time. I remember when I lived in Minnesota I saw a lot of trucks with headlights on. Here in South Dakota I don't see it as much.

In game I use parking lights during the day to keep the dashboard/gps lit, so it's easier to see. Regarding DRLs; IRL they have been mandatory here in Canada since January 1990.

It would be kinda nice if SCS implemented mandatory lights for those states that require them on, like in ETS2 with Scandinavia

Not required in Missouri either.

I usually drive around with the Running Lights all the time, and use Low Beam mainly when it ets dark. I dont usually end up using High Beams at all.
