Heavy hauling with stock trucks takes forever to reach speed limit
So I'm new to ATS and have maybe 12 hours in with which I've earned nearly 400K on the company truck. I'm just waiting to level 20 so I can purchase a specific truck that seems to run the best.

Now I'm running the C2C mod with the other one that accompanies it well. (Can't think of the name off hand) Once I hit a stretch of 75-85mph it just takes forever to actually hit that speed. Especially if some A hole pulls out in front of me and I have to brake. When I mean forever I mean forever 100+ miles to get from say 30-85mph. This can be on straight road for crying out loud.

Are there any engine mods to make the stock trucks act like real trucks? I know any heavy haul trucks I've been stuck behind don't take 100+ miles to get up to speed. LOL They would be out of business if their truck took that long to get up to speed.

Have you tried a different transmission? This is a torque problem not power, so you need a transmission that is optimised for heavy hualing.

Can the transmissions be changed on stock trucks that you don't own?

Oh you mean for quick jobs? No, you can't modify them at all, but I'll see if I can find a mod that gives you specialised heavy-hual trucks for quick jobs.

Are you willing to use truck mods? If so, I highly suggest getting the Viper 2 in workshop. It is great truck to get and cheaper and has lots more power than any of the default trucks. As matter fact, any truck mods has more power than any default trucks. Imo

The transmission mod from Fury 6 gives you a lot of different rear end ratios for the 13 & 18 speeds.

Ah I'll look into the truck mods then
Guess it doesn't matter if I get to level 20 to get the best truck if it's a mod. LOL

Oh my god there are so many trucks. Looking at modstats.com Don' tknow where to start or really what I'm looking for. So many complaints on trucks that things don't work in the comments for many of these. That or the person that uploaded doesn't speak English as their first language so you can't even understand what they are saying in the info for the file so it isn't even worth downloading. lol

This would have to be the most recommended truck mod for ATS. It is in the Steam Workshop and all you need to do is subscribe to it and it will download into your game. Just activate in the Mod Manager by double clicking on it or use the arrow to move it into the game mod list.

There are other good trucks in the Steam Workshop as well but you will need fo filter through the massive amount of skins (paintjobs) to find them. Just make sure they are trucks and not skins you subscribe to. Some players have found what they thought was their perfect truck only to find they only had a paintjob for it. :)

It takes 100 game miles, which isn't that far as you know. If you drive in real life, you have probably passed a truck that was struggling to achieve speed limit within a mile or two of roadway. Now YOU are that struggling truck. Real life isn't always as glamourous as the movies would have you believe. :)

You need at least a 500hp engine for heavy loads.
