thanks... kinda overkill though... I'm just looking for info as to how the Allison relates to the game, not trying to become an expert IRL...
Anyway, the game's stats does not take the torque converter into account so whatever it says there in relation to allison transmissions is wrong. So what are they good for? Everyting. In my personal experience they outperform all other transmissions when it comes to acceleration and mileage. If you want to play realistically, pick the 4000 RDS (Rugged Duty Series) for the heavy loads and the TC10 for your regular loads.
Now the following are promotional videos so you can expect some bias in favor of allison, but do some google research and just try to find anyone saying anything negative about allisons who actually have experience using them

Thanks for the explanation!
My personal ingame experiences go into the same direction. I love the TC10, although it doesn't have a retarder. Quick shifting, very good fuel efficiency and no problem with standard loads. The TC-10 in RL has a maximum torque limit, so I use it up to 455 HP engines.
The six and seven speed transmissions come with a retarder option and I had no problems at all pulling heavy stuff with them (same with the six speed transmission in ETS2). Driving with these transmissions feels a bit like driving an automatic car considering the quick shifting.
So, if anyone uses automatic shifting, give the Allison transmissions a try. They are - in my opinion - definitely worth it!
Happy Trucking!
In all seriousness, thank's man... I realized my previous response may have come across as overly sarcastic... I appreciate your help...
Thanks!

The big draw of this is how fast it shifts versus using Real Automatic with the Eaton-Fullers.
And despite the stat penalties, it can pull a lot of weight if you have a good engine and chassis. I feel a bit stupid that I missed out on this transmission option for almost two years.
All other transmissions in the game are available as automated transmissions, ordinary manuals with servos and computers to do the shifting labor. The Allisons are automatics, there is no solid link between the engine and driveshaft, just the slush bucket.
I can't say about the 6 speed as I can't remember using one, but the 7 speed is so superior to anything else available in the game, as noted above, that it's almost an exploit.
