Tilde key not working for you? Console won't open? FIx

I see people posting all the time about how they can't get the console to work.
Here is a fix I've been using since Windows XP and then seven, for this game for my needs.


First do the steps this fellow lists in the video for config.cfg

Now, if the tilde key does not bring up the console then I suggest this 'fix'.

First be sure the game is not running.

In Windows 10 (this worked in Windows 7 when I used it years ago as well ..)
Open Device Manager in Windows
Find the section Human Interface Devices
Find Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver
Select properties and remove this from your system.

Fire up game and magically the 'tilde' works as it should . Note actually this is unshifted ` key but we all refer to it as 'tilde' key
or 1st key to left of the number 1 key on USA keyboards.

Sadly you will probably have to repeat each time you reboot as Windows seems hell bent to reinstall the driver for this device.
In my case I don't have any MS Infrared devices installed but Windows forces it for some reason.
In YOUR case there may be not exactly the same driver but a similar one could cause a issue here.

ATS and ETS are two of the few games with this issue and console popup but this can work for other games with similar issue.

My system suffers no consequences from removing this device driver when I need to
play Either European or American Truck Simulator.

I have never heard of this Infrared devices driver or whatever you're speaking of. Are you sure this isn't an isolated issue due to system configuration? Across the various machines I've played ETS2 on over the years, this is the first I've heard of such a thing.

I think this is just a "you" thing there bud. I have never heard of this and don't have it on any of my computers.

I found that infrared driver on my system, removed it, and p00f!!
My console is now working!!

It hasn't worked since day one, now it does, thank you for sharing this fix, it really works!!

ummm.. dudes, just rebind the console command to another key = easy permanent fix.

Profile level 'controls.sii' file.

JFYI, it's the Grave key, not Tilde key :P

Believe me, I tried ALL of the tricks.

Hi I am playing ETS2 and ATS, in ETS2 console works properly, i didn't do anything special rather than adding parameters to config file. i did same for ATS, but when i click tilda, it makes something invisible, non of the keyboard or buttons on steering wheel works until i will hit tilda again. this infrared stuff is not existing in my win10. any update on this ?

This is a new one, I've not seen any posts about stuff 'becoming invisible' like that...
