Please SCS Software fix the slow traffic
I love this game it is sooooo fun to play, but the traffic, especially on rain, is to slow, they should drive faster, the AI is the biggest issue in this game, if you make them faster, this game will be the best in the universe in my opinion. :steamhappy:

Seems fine to me. I'm guessing you have the speed limiter off?

No I often drive about 3-4 KMh more than the speedlimit and the AI feels like 20 KMH under the speed limit amd trucks even slower lol

IMO they have improved the realism drastically over the last couple of releases by adding some variability to the speed vehicles drive. When I am on the highway IRL, people drive varying speeds, not all the same and the game does this better than it ever did before.

The traffic is good. Realistic.
Peno11 May 28, 2019 @ 1:28pm
If by "realistic" you mean slow in right lane and quick (usually way over the speed limits) in left lanes, then you are right. I am usually riding at the speed limit or about 5 MPH bellow it and am still oévertaken by cars and sometimes even trucks on both two- and four- and more-lane roads. On the other hand the vehicles in right lane and on two-lane roads are usually 10 and more MPH bellow the speed limit. If this is realistic in US, then I am glad I am not an American. Here in Europe, you only see a few idiots driving this crazy slow. Not that ETS2 does not have the same problem with traffic speed BTW ;-)

Yeah, well. What is realistic for one driver can be unrealistic to some other. Take 420 HP engine and do urgent deliveries with resting enabled, trailer stability realistic full left, and about 1000 km hauls, and soon you get a new game and don't need to wonder why Soviet-Russian truck drivers drive like they do, and more, you must become a Soviet-Russian truck driver :steamhappy:

Besides I have heard IRL truck drivers are in a hurry all the time.

Try this realism (with Promods) from Helsinki to Murmansk. If you deliver on time please do post a video, I want to see it.

Edit: For max realism push brake sensitivity to 20 % left to simulate crappy maintenance neglected truck.

Edit: Even if you don't deliver on time, please do post a video, and especially post a video if you crash :steamhappy:

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention load should about about 20 000 kg.

The AI just needs another overhaul in general.

Putting the nose of the truck in the intersection causes all traffic to stop but if there is no turn arrow there is no way to legally navigate the intersection without creeping into it when the light is green.

The AI slams on their brakes when leaving an intersection when the light is yellow. Absolutely no reason for this. And the exact opposite of behavior IRL.

Cars and trucks crusing 10-20 mph below the speed limit.

SCS has done well to reduce the kamakazie drivers but they still exist.

There are double turn lanes where trucks do not swing wide and hit traffic in the other lane, every time...

Don't even get me started on the concept of merging.

We can't expect this game to be perfect but there is still alot of room for improvement.

just exit to game menu, load profile again again, and traffic will be reset and you can continue where you were

There are a lot of these slackers in the U.K too. I had a haul going to Carlisle, U.K. I overtook a string of cars, trucks and buses. Every single one of them went under the 60 mph speed limit. To add insult to injury, none of the idiots refused to go any faster. :steambored:
I needed to enter a truck stop and get some fuel on my truck. But a crane truck tried to push me out of the way as to use the gas pump first! I got damage to my brand new truck and the ticket too. Then the stupid crane truck thought it had to go first to enter the motorway by going around me at the truck stop. I had to sit behind this moron and when we finally came out on the motorway again I put the pedal to the metal. Not gonna sit behind that ♥♥♥♥♥♥! :steamfacepalm:
Later on I met two AI cars wanting to get filled up at a gas station. The two idiots wanted to enter the station at the SAME time and crashed into each other causing a pile-up of traffic. I had to slam the brakes. After a bit of wiggling the two idiots entered the gas station. Yup, AI imbeciles on the loose in the U.K.

Let's hope, that they will fix the Bad Slow AI guys :steamsad:

That is indeed a problem in ATS. Never been in USA so can't say is it realistic. If not realistic, then it is a problem.

The traffic is realistic in my opinion. I've spent my whole life in the US and driven most of the major Interstates and Freeways in road tractors and four wheelers and on average it's pretty close to the real thing. Right lanes are for slower and merging traffic and left lanes are the "hammer lane" for passing and faster moving vehicles. Yes, there are people who randomly drive slower than the posted speed limit, which can be a safety issue but some people do it in some misguided nonsense about saving the planet, some people simply can't drive worth a damn, and some vehicles are not capable of maintaining speed in certain situations. As long as they are over 45 MPH, they are legal to drive on most Interstate highways. The speed limit is a limit after all, not a requirement and though everyone moving at the same speed makes for a smoother trip, it's not going to happen all the time.

Kk, great info, no problem then, thank you very much and good work SCS.
