I'm gonna guess yes for question 1 and no for question 2.
If that is what you also said then you will want Thrustmaster products.
Check out the T150 or TMX wheels, which start at around $200 MSRP.
There are upgraded versions that include a 3 pedal set, aptly named T150 Pro and TMX Pro, which add about $40-$50 to the price of the base sets.
Fanatec is way overpriced for the average user.
I got the full set for $300 on a deal, was a good investment.
The other most commonly used shifter is the Logitech Driving Force Shifter. Cheaper cost at around $60 USD, but also made entirely of plastic. Also only works with Logitech G29/920 unless an adapter is bought. Cost of the adapter is $29.00 USD.
Fanatec also makes a stand alone shifter but it is even more expensive than Thrustmaster at $200.
The reason I bought the Logitech was that it was on a deep sale, something that happens more with Logitech than Thrustmaster.
The TH8A shifter is great. It's expensive, but it's quality. You can use it as a stand-alone controller as it has a USB adapter, or you can mount it as a Thrustmaster component.
