I didn't know this could be done in the config file thanks for the info.
You have been warned.
How do you super sample older games, are you using a steam software called Lossless Scaling?
Ye, even with gtx 1060 6gb in order to have 60 fps i have to use no more than 500% scaling, it still stutters in cities and becomes a little hot but it's worth it for the visual improvement.
People who achieve stable 60fps with 600% scaling what GPU do you have?
I have a nvidia card there is a section on here that I followed to do it.
https://www.howtogeek.com/316682/how-to-run-pc-games-at-resolutions-higher-than-your-monitor-with-supersampling/
If you don't like clicking links just google how to supersample and you will find some guides.
Edit: i got my answers here: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/8ae8b6/dsr_vs_resolution_scale/
Supersampling is better than DSR (doesn't affect HUD/UI as much) but in-game scaling is even better (optimised algorithm).
But TBH, scaling above 400% is pointless for a driving game, think about your eyes and the strain that results in pain, pain = no games at all.
And also, your tests are done in 1080p(1920x1080) and most gamers now use 27" monitors @ 2560x1440 or above(4K) - I use an ASUS Swift ROG edition 144Hz G-sync
Idk guess I got a really weird setup then.
Ryzen 5 2600X, 16g 3000MHz ram, RTX 2060 on a 49" 1080p tv. haha
I do think 600 maybe 500 would help with a big(ish) tv, real close to my face(not any closer than a normal sim setup really lol) so I can set my FOV wider, and sit as far back in the seat.
I shall try and get back to ya later, not saying I have the best rig or anything, I just know this card can handle 600% once the game's DX11 is more optimized. I wouldn't dare try anything above 200% in DX9 and 400% in beta DX11. Right now with the beta I get sustainable 60FPS at 400% DX11, and around 40-60% GPU usage, idk maybe 5-20% CPU, but I also record 60FPS with OBS.
RTX 2070.
edit to add:
At 2560*1440 it doesn't look any better.
Wow, so this is what it takes. Does the game look like it has insufficient anti-aliasing, with edges and stuff, if you increase AA in Nvidia control panel to max x16 will the game still be stable at 60fps and be worth the higher scaling?
You could try higher settings,
700%:
uset r_scale_y "2.646"
uset r_scale_x "2.646"
800% (looks very good):
uset r_scale_y "2.829"
uset r_scale_x "2.829"
Let's see if your RTX 2060 is also up to the task.
I think those higher scale numbers are probably only good on a 1920*1080 monitor.
At 2560*1440 400% seems to be the sweet spot.
