This should change the placement of your axles. But only when you're empty

ok so i guess my trailer does not have this

Placement of axles and extending/retracting the extendable trailers. Dependant on the setup of your trailer ofc.

extendable trailers where are they
Ragequit Inc. Jun 19, 2019 @ 5:45am
Container carriers atleast have an extendable option (or a few).

So can i adjust my dryvan trailer?
Or what trailer does it work on?
Reese May 26, 2020 @ 9:42am
It works on any trailer with adjustable parts.

So Dryvan/reefer/insulated > Move axles forward/backward if long enough.
Flatbed/curtain/etc > Move axles as long as you aren't using a split-axle configuration.
Container Trailer > Extends or retract the extendable variant.

Doesn't work on the tankers, car trailer, or lowboys.

That's right. And that's so confusing. This is exactly how it doesn't work in real life. The purpose of adjusting the axles is to move the center of gravity of the load by lengthening or shortening the wheel base. It is to adjust the amount of weight distributed between the rear tandems and the drive tandems on the tractor. There are GVW limits and there are per axle limits. Depending on how your load is distributed within the trailer, the driver needs to slide his axles forward or rearward to balance the load between the two load bearing points. I know the game does not measure these specifics, so driving with axles forward is the easiest to manage in turns and hitting tight docks, since you have a shorter wheelbase to maneuver. But it does seem they'd let you slide your axles under load, just to keep it more like real life.

I love this game. It's my most played game of all. But, it is missing some crucial elements of driving a truck that are really part of the challenge. I know there are limits to what can, or even should be done in a game, and I'm not complaining at all. But weight management is one of the things that are missing that would make it far more realistic.

i have a 53 foot flat bed. i tried with rear, front and split axle set up. i have no load... and yet the option for trailer adjustment is greyed out and wont let me do anything...

Just had a check in-game. It seems you can't do it with a flatbed anymore. Odd. Either I had incorrect information at the time, or SCS changed it. I swear flatbeds could slide, too.

So now for the future people:
Container Trailer: 32' and 40' container chassis can be extended, and 53' chassis can slide the tandems forward/backward, assuming you selected "Extendable" or "Sliding Tandem."
Dryvan, Insulated, and Reefer: 45', 48', and 53' can all slide tandems, assuming you don't have steer, lift, or spread axles, and have selected "Sliding Tandem" variant.
Chip Van: 48' can slide tandems, assuming "Sliding Tandem" variant.
Flatbed, Lowboy, Logger, Food Tank, Bulk Feed, Grain Hopper: Can not slide tandems or make any other adjustments.

Sorry for any confusion.
