In my 53 yrs on this planet, living in America, I've never seen (that I can recall) any road trains around here.

I believe that I read somewhere that they are illegal in the US, which is probably why there are none in ATS...

At the Federal level, only STAA doubles are allowed everywhere in the US. I don't think there's anything prohibiting anything longer than 3 trailers, but don't quote me.

But, largely speaking, trains are far better for hauling a lot of cargo at once than trucks are when going across the country. Plus, with certain areas of the US having mountains, road trains are pretty impractical to use and the TPD or RMD's are restricted to certain roads as it is for states that allow them.

Even if you found a mod to haul road trains in the game I doubt very much you would be able to haul them. You would have a lot of trouble being able to hook them up because of the size of the pick up locations and any turns at intersections would be virtually impossible and even getting out of pick up locations even if you managed to hook them up somehow would be extremely difficult. The game was not built to support that sort of truck and trailer combination.

There was a road train mod out there maybe about version 1.3 or so, not sure if it has been updated. I tried it out back then and it was good in some areas but a pain in other like Willy said..had to dev cam out of a lot of loading spots and a no damage mod was a must as it usually totalled the trailers and load from bouncing.

road trains are generally not allowed in cities so there are road train assembly areas outside towns where you break down or assemble your combinations
