Removing mods however without selling off the assets is a sure fire way to corrupt a profile.
If you are ever going to remove a mod go into the profile and sell off all of the assets of said mod. Engines, accessories, tires, garages...whatever. Then resave the game. Hop back into mod manager, deactivate mod and load profile again. If all is working, resave profile.
Thank you for the quick reply! In this case, I had the Realistic Graphics Mod and then removed it. I do not have any specific truck mods at this time, mostly the AI & graphics type of mods. So in the case of these types of mods, is the game really unusable after removing? I would hate to lose all my progress if I ever have to remove one.
Again, it depends on the mod if the profile will crash if the mod was removed without selling off the assets of the mod.
The most recent, and a very extreme example to where I know of this happening is when a person made the SCS log trailer ownable when it was first introduced. SCS did not have it set as ownable. It was on the workshop. Lots of people subbed to it. When SCS made their internal version ownable this person deleted their mod. The game would not load without the mod present. Even deactivating the mod from mod manager caused a crash.
Only way to know is to try and click continue when it comes up with the missing mod dependency window. If your profile loads...you are good.
If it crashes...well that will take some investigation as to why you are crashing.
