Better setting for tire traction?
I have been searching for a mod or change in the dev console. I want to find a setup that the tires can break traction from excessive breaking or taking a turn hard. I know abs are supposed to stop this. But, I know (IRL) if your bobtailing and the roads are damp you best watch on the ramps and while breaking. You can spin the tires when accelerating so the physics in the game should be able to do the same with the breaking/turning? And no I'm not looking to drift just a bit more realism.

The best you can do right now is mod the file:

def/vehicle/physics.sii

The very bottom block has the tyre friction related parms.

I tried changing that. Then I put just that file in as a mod, not sure if that's a correct way or not. But, I couldn't really tell a difference.

Yep, just including that file as a mod is correct.

This lack of real traction is the biggest issue I have with this simulator. Does anyone really think you should be bob tailing and take a sharp corner at 70+ mph? Where is the under steering? It really makes it feel too fake.

Yeah, lack of proper physics does seem a bit on the arcade-y side of the equation.

You could just slow down. Making everything IRL would make it tedious. It is a video game so yeah not RL.

In a game with "simulator" in its title that's a weak answer.

Ok so i guess you would like to do a walk around checking tires and many other things that are not included. There are many sim games out there. None of them include everything. When they have changing seasons this could be interesting though.

Since when did wishing for more realistic driving physics, even marginally, amount to wishing to engage in all the tediums of real life? No, I don't expect that (truthfully I don't "expect" anything) at all; I have no need to simulate going to the urinal at the truckstop, either. Dynamic weather changing handling characteristics would be awesome.

Problem is everyone has there own opinion. Devs can only add so much content before performance with FPS happens. I agree many things could be improved but limitations to game quality is what matters most.

You would think that in a sim, especially one that's been around this long the basics would be covered.
IE: Seasons & Realistic driving physics. Driving physics being more important in a driving sim than seasons.

Well let them implement real driving physics. That would be a sales mistake. People have to go to schools to learn this stuff. I need a six week school to drive a truck in a video game lol.

Or oversteering...SCS has not tackled tire slip angles and any loose or pushing behavior does not exist. That is, i fear, a far more complex aspect of vehicle simulation than people appreciate.
That's still WIP for iRacing, AC etc and they've had years of concentrated effort and millions to spend on the question. It's just the way it is, and not the part of the driving "simulation" that SCS has tried to excel at.

This is not a racing sim TG. You can drive a simulated truck. Doubt there will be tire slip animations added any time soon. Over steering has been present for a while though cornering is too easy. I think overall the devs have done good.

I have never once experienced oversteer, just loss of traction which vaguely resembles understeer. Bottom line is that "tire traction" is (properly) not a pressing issue for SCS.
