AI vehicles really fond of random brake checks
I've been trying to roleplay a proper trucker, staying in the right lane unless the highway signs say otherwise, but I keep getting AI drivers zooming past me, moving to my lane, and then slowing down to well below what I was going.

This is why I've been driving in the far left lane for 95% of my highway driving. That, or just driving in the middle of a two lane highway to block everyone from passing in either lane.

SCS, fix your stupid, badly coded AI already.

Did they break something in a recent patch? I only started playing a few days ago.

I haven't had any issues like this with AI. Are they perfect? Definitely not, but they're not usually that bad.
Are you running any traffic mods, or any mods that would interfere with AI?

No mods at all. I generally have at least 2-3 instances of AI stupidity per trip (5-800+ miles each).

I havent seen anything like that other than when they overtake they brake a little bit to get back to the speed limit once they have moved over. But if you are going too fast maybe you should slow down a bit yourself? I usually travel a few mph under the speed limit and havent any issues. Dont tailgate either.

I drive 55mph all the time for best fuel economy unless the speed limit is lower. Heavy haul (50,000lb+, quite a few 100,000lb+) contracts. The AI stupidity is rampant. I should start recording it...

I commute into London six days a week, and I've seen driving stupidity levels that most wouldn't believe. The AI in this game really doesn't feel all that different from some of the idiots that are on the roads these days.

If it's only 3 times in 800 miles, that's definitely not a problem. In fact, I think that might be less realistic. Should definitely be more then that.

Real life traffic is far worse than the traffic in this game.

I never had REAL problems (just a few gripes) with the AI until 1.35 came out.

They drive so damned slow now, I've actually disabled traffic using the console. I've never done that before.

Passing is incredibly dangerous now. You'll come up behind a truck or bus driving <50 MPH in a 70 zone. You pull out to pass. 9 times out of 10, there will be a perfectly-timed AI car in the opposing lane, forcing you to abort the attempted pass. So you tuck back in behind the slowpoke, only to have them brakecheck you. The AI was never very smart, but this is ridiculous. Fix this crap SCS, I know for a fact you can do better than this.

Not noticed any of that in my game

I thought I was the only one who did this, I see I'm wrong LMAO. :steammocking:

Do you do the truck speed limit, or do you drive 5-10mph below it? I drive the truck speed limit or 1-2mph below at all times. Never over 55-60, though, and mostly 55.

If you live in the Baltimore DC Virginia area the game will look like a cake walk. Real life here is 50x worse. :steamhappy:

Yeah I use the truck limit, which is 55 across most of the West Coast. In NV and NM there are plenty of 2-lane roads with 65-70 mph speed limits, that's where it really becomes an issue for me.

Yep, the AI idiots love to cut off the player. Not much different irl. If I don't have at least one vehicle going around me when I drive to and from school, then something is wrong.
I've been noticing people becoming more reckless and I've seen a fair share of suicidal overtaking maneuvers. One day I saw a car getting around me and a couple of others when I noticed a truck coming our way. Poor truck driver, he must have gotten a shock when a car was doing a suicidal maneuver. I'm always ready to honk, or if it becomes necessary, ditch it. Playing chicken with peoples lives is not funny! Sheesh! :steamfacepalm::greasysideup:
