TH8A Shifter Problem
I got a TH8A shifter for Christmas, and due to some other things going on, I am only just now able to mess with it.
The problem is that ATS doesn't seem to recognize it.

I have the shifter connected to my Thrustmaster TMX wheel, and I also have the 3 pedal set connected.

Everything seems to be functioning as it should, except for the shifter.
When I try to set it up using the wizard it displays a message to the effect that 'No h shifter (HW) can be found'.

I tried connecting it to the pc via USB, but had the same problem, for some odd reason ATS cannot 'see' my shifter.

I poked around some on the forums, but didn't find anything that I'd call relevant to my issue, so I'm hoping that one of you folks that has the TH8A shifter can maybe help me get this thing working.

Not seeing you mention that you downloaded the drivers and updated firmware?

drivers:
http://ts.thrustmaster.com/download/pub/webupdate/th8rs/2019_th8rs_1.exe

Firmware update procedure: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/download/pub/webupdate/th8rs/th8a_firmware_update_process_v27.pdf

It is best imho to use the shifter as a standalone USB device than having it connected to your wheel.

I followed your procedure, and there was some updates applied, but the wizard is still not seeing my shifter.
I'll try a reboot and see what happens...

Just a note on this - the shifter only works in sequential mode when connected via a wheel base, to use it in H-shifter mode, it must be connected via standalone USB.

So if OP is connecting the TH8 to their wheel base then ATS won't see it as an H-Shifter.

OP - use the USB connection, check drivers and make sure Windows sees the shifter in device manager.

If you have installed the Thrustmaster Firmware and software and it is recognized in the Thrustmaster Control Panel then it should be regognized in the game. Check the drop down list in Controls in ATS and see if it is listed and if it is select it to add it.

It is currently connected via USB and is recognized as a connected device in Windows, yet it still doesn't seem to be recognized by the game...

EDIT: This may or may not be relevant, but in Windows, it is seen as a TH8A Shifter, but in ATS it is seen as a TRS 500 Shifter.

That's fine, that's what the game recognizes it as.
As long as ATS sees it and you have it selected as a controller from the drop down menus on the controls page then once you configure the positions, you're good to go.

Right now I have keyboard+thrustmaster in the first slot and the TRS 500 in the second slot, but every time I configure the shifter it does everything but shift...

Ok, so you have the controller selection sorted.

And you've set the shifter positions and shifting pattern at the bottom of the controls menu?
And you have the clutch set in keybinds?

Yes, the clutch is set to my clutch pedal.

What transmission are you using?

6/7 speed you are able to assign the gates to what you want.

On the 10/13/18 speed you can't change the gates.

I haven't been picking a specific transmission, just a setting called 'Range'.

I was running an automatic trans before I installed the shifter, Eaton-Fuller 13 speed I think it was...

Hello Capt Fuzzy, I have the same shifter. All the info you have recieved is correct. Nice work guy's. When it comes to selection of trans. Remember, in order to split the gears you will need to make a key your selector switch or use the direction key pad on your wheel. Good luck guy and you will get it together. Have a great day.

Have you bound a key/button for range (and splitter)? These are listed as 'Toggle 1' (Range) and 'Toggle 2' (Splitter) in the settings.

Without these set, the shifter won't function correctly as you'll have no way of setting the range when actually trying to drive.

Yes, I have done this, I was able to assign both to buttons on my steering wheel.
