What are some good driving wheel controllers for this game? also, do those wheels come with brake and gas pedals? do you buy those seperatly? are they required with the wheels? first and really only game i would be playing with a wheel and i guess im just unsure on what i should be looking for.

I've got the Logitech G920 wheel and pedals paired with the TH8A shifter. It's a nice setup but it didn't come cheap. You don't need to spend a fortune but don't go too cheap. There are some junk wheels out there and you won't be happy with the feel.

I'm going to suggest Thrustmaster. A great starting force feedback wheel will be the T150 or the TMX. Both come with a 2 pedal set. Yes, pedals are required.

If you wanted to upgrade, for about $50 more that includes a 3 pedal set then look at the T150 Pro or TMX Pro.

These wheels are great. They are belt driven and provide smooth gameplay with the least amount of problems, in my opinion.

Others will suggest Logitech. They are good wheels but not for ETS2/ATS. The wheels are gear driven. They are notchy, noisy, and quite frankly... they rattle. Force feedback is not that great either.

Completely agree with AyMazing on this.

Thrustmaster TMX or T150 are the only options you should look at for a relatively low cost new wheel. An important note though, both wheels use a hybrid belt/gear drive so they're a good middle ground and will perform better than any pure gear drive wheel but not as well as a pure belt drive wheel. For belt drive wheels, look at Thrustmaster T300 or Fanatec CSL Elite as the starting point.

Logitech wheels use technology that literally has not changed since the G25 (13 years old now) so they represent very poor value for money and are a dead end in terms of upgrade options.

The T150 and TMX are both hybrid gear/belt designs, you need to go to a TX or T300 before you get a true belt-drive setup.

My first wheel that I bought for this was the T150. I now use a TX wheel base.

True they are a hybrid but definitely a whole lot better than a rattly Logitech.

Thanks for the reminder Foxman and Hiro.

My Logitech G27 is 7 years and going strong. The gears do rattle badly when driving on dirt roads. A belt drive wheel would be much better.

I upgraded the pedals to Fanatec ClubSport V3. A load cell brake pedal has a much more natural feel than a simple spring loaded pedal.

No problems with my G29 for ATS or ETS2 but there are better options, but of course they are going to be more expensive as well.

I'm a newcomer to ATS and driving games in general (flight simmer for 30 years) and recently bought the Logitech G29. I sort of regret it as I am not fan of the force feedback on it in ATS. As stated above, it is very notchy and is jittery when I go around curves in ATS. I have not been able to fine tune the settings to fix this but maybe there is a way. The G29 seems to feel and work much better in Forza Horizon. If I could go back in time a few weeks I would have bought the Thrustmaster TX Leather wheel.

I knew about this thread on the SCS Forums when I posted the above. As I'm not an owner of a Logitech wheel I have no idea on how ffb would feel afterwards.

Can try this out to see if it makes things any better. https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=49772

Main reason most people recommend Logitech is because there are a lot more G25/G27/G29/G920s available second-hand (and Thrustmaster gear from back in those days was pretty ordinary) at reasonable prices, compare $150 for a used G27 (which comes with shifter AND 3 pedals) vs $500 for a new TMX Pro + TH8A and you'll see why most casual gamers go for Logitech. Logitech is a lot more well-known in a lot of people's minds too, especially if they are older and remember the glory days of the 90s

My first wheel was a G29 and because that had a wiring fault, which was common for the first released G29's, I sent it back and replaced it with a G920. Not long after getting the G920 and because of the faulty G29 I began looking around for other wheels and did a lot of research and ended up buying the T500RS which had been in production for a long time at that stage. I bought my T500RS in 2015 which was not long after the G29 and G920 wheels were released because I bought my G29 on a preorder for it's first release. Since the T500RS was released in 2010 I question your opinion on build quality of Thrustmaster wheels. I have found it to be an absolutely superb wheel and especially in ATS and ETS2 and is why I have been recommending Thrustmaster wheels ever since because they are far superior to the Logitech wheels.

My experience with Thrustmaster, the T500RS and the TH8A has been extremely good and it is of much better built quality than Logitech. They may have made a good wheel with the G27 I don't know and it did come with a shifter but those days are long ago. I believe the reason why people choose Logitech is the same reason I bought the G29 and that was because I had heard much more about Logitech and their products seemed to be good. However, having had both the G29 and G920 wheels I have changed my mind completely when it comes to wheels. They may be good for racing games but for anyone who wants a good wheel for ATS and ETS2 and can afford it Thrustmaster is the way to go. Unless you know the difference you cannot tell but because I have had both I know the difference and it is immense.

Logitech wheels are actually even worse for racing games than truck sims since decent racing requires precision and fidelity in feedback that gear drives simply cannot provide.
Anyone who is even remotely into racing games should avoid Logitech like the plague.

I was actually meaning that the FFB is better in racing games than in ATS and ETS2 so I suppose I should have said that instead of saying they may be good for racing games.

I bought the Fanatec Clubsport V3 inverted pedals and they are truly superb in any game.

That doesn't explain tons of people using them for racing. Sure, it's not the BEST option, but it's arguably one of the best for the money. Not everyone is made of money.
