New to pc gaming need advice
Just wondering if my setup will run American truck sim decently? AMD Six-Core FX-6300 with 6 cores, 8gb of ram and a Nvidia GT1030 Graphics with 2GB of dedicated graphics memory. Not very computer savvy specially gaming would be appropriated for some advice thanks!

I imagine you could probably run ATS. The CPU and Ram should be good, not sure about the GPU, whether you'd have to turn down some settings.

Pretty sure I was running the game on a Core i5-3570K, though can't recall what video card, since I upgraded once or twice in that time.

Give this a try: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

It has American Truck Simulator in it's database. It might let you know if something is lacking.

I used to run on the same GPU. FPS will be a little low in busy areas but still playable.

Something like 45-50 with middle settings. It's not a very strong card.

Unfortunately those specs are really last gen. FX-6300 has a bit of power to it but there's no upgrade path since new processors are on a new socket and RAM is DDR4 now.

That processor would run with an RX 560 or 570 but you won't be able to upgrade it ever.

I wouldn't really call FX-6300 with GT1030 a "Gaming PC". For comparison earlier mentioned i3-8100/GTX 960 is roughly 2-3 times more powerful.

That would be physically impossible. Also for 500$ you could get a 50 times better PC on cregslist. That hardware was laughably bad when it was new in 2008. A 100$ 2019 smartphone is more powerful.

Give the guy a break. You should try buying this kit in the "3rd world" where we pay crazy prices with a Mickey Mouse currency for obsolete "grey" stuff bought on job lots, yes you can buy top deck but better be prepared to sell the house.

i mean if i had extra money i probly would of bought something more high end or build my own but im limited when it comes to my income but i gotta think realisticly that if i set there and buy a computer thats $2000 or more i wont have money to feed myself and all the bills that have to be tooking care of. i think this computer will do me fine i dont exspect to play maxed settings long as i can play the game better then what i do on my old desktop im using right now thats better then nothing to me.

Depending on where you're shopping you can put together something pretty decent for about $1000. $300 can typically get you a decent enough video card that will last you a few years, and depending on your needs, a CPU with a high single core performance is generally best for gaming. You don't necessarily need to spend a lot on a motherboard, but a good motherboard will have 4 RAM slots. Two slots in dual channel mode to start, and if you feel the need to add more later, you can easily double your RAM by filling in the other two slots.

My current machine has 32GB of Ram (4x8GB) which is way more than you'd ever need. I tend to have a pile of youtube windows open and I'm currently running at 40% memory usage ;)

This just came out the other day, you may find it an interesting read.

The cpu is on the low end, but will work. The ram is fine. The 1030 gpu is intended strictly for systems that don't have integrated graphics and is good for word processing and web browsing, it is not for gaming by any stretch of the imagination. If you want to play games get a better gpu.

Look at RX 570 cards. They go around $150 USD new. Could probably get a used one for cheaper. It matches your processor and RAM pretty well. The CPU might bottleneck a little bit but you'll get huge gains that make up for that.
