G29 wheel work in PS4 mode?
hello, I just got a logitech G29 wheel with pedals including clutch. Everything works well except it wont let me setup the clutch.

if it's in PS3 mode everything works except the clutch. But when I switch it to PS4 mode none of the functions are available. Am I missing something ??

Thanks

In the Controls options for transmission type...do you have it set as automatic, real automatic, sequential, or h-shifter?

H Shifter

That is basically how mine are set. except under clutch axis it wont let me assign it. when I press the clutch in after hitting clutch axis nothing happens, when in PS3 mode. But in PS4 mode the clutch is the only thing I can assign, nothing else will show up.

Check for any key mappings in the Logitech Gaming Software as a possibility. That program is a piece of bloatware in all honesty and causes more trouble than good.

So many issues in the game can be traced back to this, especially if they assign default keys in the software which then don't work in game.

Silly question I know but have you downloaded and installed the software for your wheel from Logitech?

not a silly question bc I'm new to this. the wheel seemed to be recognized as soon as I plugged it in and all other functions work properly except the clutch. Would that lead you to still believe I should check the software?

If you haven't installed the software...you should install it as it's needed for the drivers and firmware.

I never install the software for my wheel. It seems to run just fine through windows and games seem to be happy with it. I've been using this way since before Nascar3.

I have my wheel set in PS4 mode because the instructions it says if you want the wheel to work on your PC you have to have it in PS4 mode. And my Clutch worked. Also install the software and the everything should work.

UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who commented, its nice to have help with these things.

I have everything working correctly on PS4 mode including clutch. I'm not 100% sure what actually fixed it. The logitech site kind of screwed me around saying everything was up to date, then saying I had no logitech devices on my PC. Downloaded their wheel setup profiler, but it did not have ATS on it (I know it should have been I have seen it on others videos) then the wheel all of sudden was not being recognized on my ATS game itself. I switched USB ports back and forth and restarted multiple times, and FINALLY everything started working correctly. So again thanks for the help ,not sure what the fix was.

Logitech has gotten dumb in recent years. Their hardware isn't as good as it used to be and such. I'm fortunate I got my G27 when I did (tail end of it being discontinued, right before the G29 came out), and it still works. My only issue is mostly to do with the OS and force feedback, I can't, for the life of me, get it work properly at times. Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't. I'll never understand it and I just gave up at this point.

I usually check first the Windows Game Controller Control Panel to decide wether to go on control software, driver, or the game itself to find the fault.

Using the FFB plugin I learned that FFB (at least the plugin) needs the wheel to be device index number one to work. Tinkering with Joy2Key proves that.

This is why changing USB ports sometimes work or don't: depending if it's changing device index or not. Also, you need to change the USB chanel to force this: since usually every chanel gets two sockets on the case, you need to know how the sockets are wired.

Having an old Joystick MS Sidewinder FFB 2 plugged in additionally to the wheel, I have trouble to get ATS working constantly. There are no problems the other way around.

Maybe that helps someone...
