So many issues in the game can be traced back to this, especially if they assign default keys in the software which then don't work in game.
not a silly question bc I'm new to this. the wheel seemed to be recognized as soon as I plugged it in and all other functions work properly except the clutch. Would that lead you to still believe I should check the software?
ok where would I go to check that?
makes sense I will do so. thank you!
Thank you to everyone who commented, its nice to have help with these things.
I have everything working correctly on PS4 mode including clutch. I'm not 100% sure what actually fixed it. The logitech site kind of screwed me around saying everything was up to date, then saying I had no logitech devices on my PC. Downloaded their wheel setup profiler, but it did not have ATS on it (I know it should have been I have seen it on others videos) then the wheel all of sudden was not being recognized on my ATS game itself. I switched USB ports back and forth and restarted multiple times, and FINALLY everything started working correctly. So again thanks for the help ,not sure what the fix was.
Using the FFB plugin I learned that FFB (at least the plugin) needs the wheel to be device index number one to work. Tinkering with Joy2Key proves that.
This is why changing USB ports sometimes work or don't: depending if it's changing device index or not. Also, you need to change the USB chanel to force this: since usually every chanel gets two sockets on the case, you need to know how the sockets are wired.
Having an old Joystick MS Sidewinder FFB 2 plugged in additionally to the wheel, I have trouble to get ATS working constantly. There are no problems the other way around.
Maybe that helps someone...
