Darkness is pitch black in game.
How can I fix this? There are times when I can't see anything. Screenshots show a normal level of darnkess but in game it is way darker.

In this shot you can see my truck, trailer, and the trailer next to me but in game I almost couldn't park this because they were all just black and I couldn't see them. There's also a wall in front of me that I couldn't see either. I managed to park it only by seeing where there was no light.

Also yes I tried the brightness slider. It doesn't help until it is almost maxed which is then way too bright in normal lighting.

Well there are mods for brighter lights, backup lights, light flares, realistic mirror FOV, etc, etc

Some can help but just like in real life some places are pitch black and it's a pita to see

You'll have to try a few out and see what works for you

I find 'realistic mirror FOV' is a great mod (but that's just me)

I have that problem sometimes too. But usually it isn't that dark.

It could be because my monitor and card is calibrated based on professional test patterns for gamma and contrast, so my blacks are super duper black. Should be able to see everything else that is not super black though.

Ah... And here I thought there was only one shade of black!.... Otherwise I'd call it really dark gray! ;)

Yeah. I can see grays that I used to think were the same black before I did this. It makes a difference. It added like five more shades of gray that used to be just "black" to me.

Nice... yeah it was really black.

I'm just thinking about going to the paint store and saying to the employee 'that paint is just black... I want super duper black!'

Lol.... Just having fun!

Maybe I should look into better monitor calibration.... I run 3 monitors but have left them at the Asus manufacturers settings

There's some stretches of road in the US where night is dark. Real dark. Pitch black, need-a-better-flashlight-hope-I-didn't-just-hear-banjos dark.

On the one hand are people complaining that ATS cannot be a sim, because it's not real enough.
On the other hand are people complaining that ATS has parts that are too real.

Then there's people like me that just wish everyone complaining would shut up :steammocking:

You can check your black levels and other stuff on this site.

You should be able to see all the squares if you're correctly calibrated.

Well it was so black that it didn't seem intentional, so I asked. I mean there were lights like 5 feet away which weren't really even lighting anything. I'd understand if there were no lights in the lot, but there are.

Oh cool, I need to try that!

Sure you're not running visualFX/enb mods?

Never installed any mods so I shouldn't have any.

only the first two squares don't appear. Is that bad? What can I do about it?
