Well i know that.. but your seeing alot of games now openening up to it to save them time and money, in the meantime take all these pointless roadtrips to nowhere (SCS)... Its a whole lot cheaper for a buisness to allow a modder to implement such features to a game than for them to do it..
Its like the physics to the trucks and trailers. Do you really think that SCS is just completely blind to see of how there own models react if you hit a bump in the road or a curb on the side and say yeah everything just fine looks normal to me... Then theres a modder out there that does a very good job at getting it right at what tools has been given to him/her...
Many developers actually rcruit new staff from the modding community.
It's my view that if the games were at a stage where nobody wanted to add anything, the modding community for that game would slowly disappear. I'm not saying developers do this on purpose, but I would think that a LOT of ideas that are thrown around at their business meetings and production meetings would never see the light of day.
Truck physics is an interesting one because not all the trucks behave exactly the same yet the physics.sii is global in the game. One size fits all. while this works for the game, it is not an "actuality" but maybe SCS aren't trying to be perfect.
Let's say Billy Bloggs writes a rip-snorter of a physics mod. Tons of people download it. Maybe it makes it to the workshop.
A game update comes along where SCS decide that it IS a good idea to have separate physics for separate trucks, and Billy's mod falls over.
The result? SCS are slammed for breaking mods.
"Truck engine sounds for one"
They recuit from there because its a quick resume at what a person can do and thats it!!!
Truck physics SCS probaly didnt want to put that much work into it because of laziness plain and simple!!! and there so heavily dependent on the modding comunity to keep there games alive anymore anyways but they already know that they can throw crap around for people to buy and it would be just alright.
Now if SCS did come out with a more detailed physics system in game tomarow i would be more than happy to go over and pay for whatever they did just what i would think most people would do as well.. (then again SCS shouldve already did that kinda work to begin with)
You would never be able to stop blowback from people on how they play there game ever.. Ecspecially a mod supported game at that.. Rescale for instance people like how it was but the majority didnt but you had blowback against it your just not gonna stop it.
For anyone interested about marcaus1988, just search back through the forum. He is an habitual complainer about SCS and the games they produce. The most pleasure he seems to derive from the game is the constant posting of threads complaining about some aspect or other about the game.
I do not think SCS making any changes to their games would make an iota of difference, he would simply find something else to complain about.
The game is not perfect, it has never professed to be perfect but it is the best game of it's type. If you do not like it, find something better. Then hopefully go and post complaints on their forum and stop the incessant complaining on this forum. Or just find something more useful to do with your life.
The W900 has the values set to:
1st Axle: 0.12
2nd Axle: 0.12
3rd Axle: 0.12
The other three trucks are set to:
1st Axle: 0.12
2nd Axle: 0.08
3rd Axle: 0.08
With those settings, all of them are set too stiff, if you set the front axle value to 0.425 and the rear axles to 0.135 the trucks will have a more realistic bounce when you go over bumps, accelerate, and brake, inlcuding when you hook up to a trailer (However, for the best results, you will need to modify the fifth_wheel_roll value in the physics.sii file from 0 to 3, which I think is the maximum allowed roll, in degrees, for a fifth wheel IRL, but I used to have mine at a value of 1 degree.)
I have achieved a pretty good truck bounce by just changing the values in the chassis files and leaving the physics.sii file alone.
Also the trips they take are for a very good reason, to do research. We've seen the results of their trips already. You can see some of the stuff they've recently added in their video where they went to the Paccar Technical Center (for example, they probably recorded the sound of the landing gear, air hoses, air horns, and obviously truck engine sounds while they were there, and they looked at the Peterbilt 389 there as well because they didn't have enough references for the interior.) You can see from some of the other photos they took there that they photo scanned a few trucks there as well, like the T880, an ICON900, as well as another 579 and T680. They also recorded a Kenworth going over bumps, its only a matter of time until we see the results from that.
Also. people seem to think that trucks these days are supposed to sound like they have straight pipes with the mufflers cut out of them and try to justify themselves by showing videos of custom trucks and not trucks straight from the factory, which is completely idiotic since the trucks are supposed to be factory spec, like they currently sound in-game. It also wouldn't hurt if those same people who complain would actually have decent speakers with proper sub-woofers...
I appreciate the information you have about the truck physics didn't know you could change it for each truck, I'm gonna give some of that a try.
And anyone wanting to know who is Willy.J.K. he's a big time (SCS loving as if it was his god) would be happy playing a game that was based primarily playing with cardboard boxes, and doesn't care at where his money goes just as long as he could play with his cardboard boxes he'll be happy!!!
Don't really know what your smoking on the straight pipe thing there cool sounding but dont know where your trying to get that input from, but yeah if you think SCS did good on the Pete 579 stock sound or any of it then your completely ignorant to actual truck engines lol.
All i ever ask is for things to be done right and i dont think thats to much to ask for ecspecially if im paying into the product, but yeah i really do Hope you have a good new years to!!
You know nothing about me or what I like to do! I do not try to insult you as you have tried to insult me!
I just point out the obvious about you, if you object to being called an habitual complainer then please tell me why in this forum you have posted so often with complaints. Am I incorrect?
You may not like my comments in your threads but there is no need to be insulting by making childish comments about me. You may like to think you are clever but I can assure you, you are not. You just show how immature you really are.
By "physics" it is generally meant how the truck behaves. I knew that about suspension but I was meaning things like cabin mass, pitch, roll, etc. It is common to all and cannot be changed for a specific truck to be different. I wish it were not that way because a cabover steers, brakes and handles way diffeently to a coventional. and not just concerning suspension.
You should release a mod to vary the behaviour of the trucks. Would be good.
Unless ya want to spend a couple grand on a hydrulic chair to let you get the set of the pants feel .. The phsyics are pretty damned good if ya ask me , loads drag ya down up hill as well as will shove ya down em . hit a turn too hard u can roll the biotch right on its can ,,,
