It's not how they work on real life.

The Jake increases engine braking, the engine needs to be connected to the drive wheels to do so (in gear.)
The jake works in neutral, I know because I drove one, Ive also seen it done a many of times. The purpose for jake braking in neutral is for faster shifting when floating gears, not for slowing the truck like so many people think.

The Jake works wen u go
To shift it helps allow your rpms to
Come down faster each time u shift gears in real life it won't work in neutral it onily works wen u shift onily
Thats the point, the jake brake drop the rpms faster for floating gears. It will work in neutral and I know this because ive tried it in a kenworth, international, and autocar. (Some trucks do and some dont) I think some trucks that have that electronic fuel pedal wont activate the jake down past a certain rpm but direct linkage will always let you jake in neutral

Why do you need it? RPM drop quick enough in neutral
I need it for faster shifting, it also sounds really good while jake shifting. And I can also edit the rpm dropping in the mod files.

if your set to advance and set for throttle/clutch it works fine i float most all my shifts
with the jake on

and yes i get the jake burps in the shift

Jakes absolutely do work in neutral. When they won't work is if you are on the throttle or clutch at all. At least in real life. Both the throttle and clutch, when either is pressed even the slightest, disengage the jakes. This is how you float gears without having to worry about the jakes kicking your RPM down too fast (you keep your left foot just slightly on the clutch to disengage the jake but not enough to engage the clutch itself)... or how you shift more than 1 gear at a time quickly (by letting the jakes drop the RPM while shifting that much faster.)
