Inland U.S. Customs/Border Patrol Checkpoints
I see that with the addition of the New Mexico DLC they added these on the sides of the interstates and from the looks of it they put a lot of time and detail into it. So, Im just tying to figure out why they blocked them off.

No point in having them in game as of yet. IRL everyone stops at those, which in game would make a frustrating bottleneck.

Oh really? @Frontiersman. I have not seen them yet...or I have but not really paid much attention. Where are these Border patrol/US customs located in NM? Aren't they the weighstations?

The ones I have seen are not active yet. You can not get into them, they are blocked off.

Are those the one with the funny looking barriers over the buildings. like in Las Lacrues? I wondered what they were.

They are the ones with the steel frames that look like they are going to build a metal barn. Inside the frame work is a building with scales and a inspection area. But they are blocked...

Real life checkpoints dont prevent illegal immigration they just bust hippie granny with pot. Border Patrol knows this but they lobby congress to keep this pork in place as it job security.

Got YouTube idiots saying they are not US citizens or don't answer the question at the checkpoint, What you think border patrol doing to do? You will get your car search and ask 10,000 more questions. Within 100 miles of US-Mexico border constitution thrown out the window.

I will say I have personally watched illegals get busted at a checkpoint north of Laredo, twice.
And "sovereign citizens" don't care about the constitution when they keep quoting the Articles of Confederation, which was rendered null and void by the Constitution anyway.
PROTIP: Want to keep from being asked 10,000 questions or your car from being searched? Don't break the law, and comply with law enforcement. :)

BP: Good afternoon, are you a US Citizen?
Me: Yessir
BP: Are you transporting any illegal items or persons?
Me: None that I am aware of, sir. Trailer was sealed when I hooked to it, I haven't broken that seal. Would you like to see the paperwork?
BP: Not necessary. Have a good day, sir!
Me: Thanks you too!

Done.

I'm not going to get too political, but inland border searches are illegal. We, as US citizens, have the US Consititution on our side and we do have the right to remain silent. And there's not a thing they can do about it. If they want to get pissy, that's their problem and not yours.

I am aware of the whole "100-mile within the border" thing, but I'm honestly amazed that hasn't been declared unconstitutional still. If you're on US soil, the Constitution applies regardless if you're a citizen or not. (because believe it or not, our Constitution does have protections for "The People", not just US Citizens)

About 12 years ago I went to Ciudad Juarez in Mexico. This is just across the river from El Paso, TX. As it was explained to me, Mexico also has a second checkpoint further south. The border lands between the two "inland" checkpoints is supposed to be some kind of special trade area. We were not asked for passports to get into Mexico, nor were we asked for it at either US checkpoint (We were in a passenger vehicle, not a truck). They just asked our citizenship and probably noted that we were caucasians in a car with US license plates then waved us on.

We used to have fruit fly inspections in Australia. :)

Just to explain a bit more, they would have border check points and cars would need to stop and declare if they were carrying any fruit. There are no check points any longer. I think the fruit fly used to refuse to stop so they closed them down. :)

Are you carrying any fruit sir? Only the bloke in the back. :)

We still have something like that on all major roads going into California...

I would have thought the traffic there would have been too much for those there but evidently not.

I have had it happen to me. I didn't break the law, but, LEO's were searching everything and anything to try to find something, anything, to justify their fishing expedition...for 3-1/2 HOURS!

Supreme Court rulings after 9-11 justices did legal gymnastics justify these rulings to basically give law enforcement free reign in regard to warentless searches.

The checkpoints are movable in these states, but the border control rarely uses these beyond 100 miles.
