Wrong. Jake Brake is the common term for the exhaust/engine brake. The "Jake Brake" was created in 1960 by Jacobs Vehicle Systems. 1961 saw the first production models being released.
The retarder is related to the transmission.
Each of these systems have a very unique and distinctive sound.
The update shouldn't have affected anything regarding engine brakes. Check to make sure your key/button bindings for the engine brake haven't somehow been changed.
Also (as partly mentioned above), if you're using pedals - check that BOTH your throttle and clutch pedals are operating properly and without residual noise at the rest position. If either one is noisy you will need to adjust the deadzone to trim that noise out.
I have change my key/button and when i used, on the dashboard, the engine brake button move !
But, the engine break don't work... Before the update, i have no problem... :-(
Hmm... that's pretty odd. Is this with an SCS truck, or mod truck? Are you using any engine and/or engine sound mods?
If you post your 'game.log.txt' file for us to look at, there *might* be a clue in there, depending.
I have sound mod on ETS2.
pastebin and link to that here
