Problem downloading mods
Google Chrome has started blocking my attempts to download mods from sites lke ATSmods.net. It never did this before, I have several mods from that site. Last night I tried to download Cyrus's Mack Ultraliner and got a message "(file nale).exe may be dangerous, so Chrome has blocked it". I tried a different link, then tried some other mods, but the same thing happened.

Anyone else had this problem? I'm not the most saavy PC user, and I haven't changed any security settings in Chrome, so I'm drawing a blank here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Waldo

Edit: I use Malwarebytes and Avast Antivirus.

Download Mozilla Firefox and try to see if that works for you.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Why would the mod be in an .exe file? That might be the issue, in and of itself. All the mods I've ever downloaded have been in some type of archive format; .zip, .rar, .scs, etc.

Tried that, no issue, got a .scs, not .exe.

My Chrome has Ublock Origin, Privacy Badger, Scriptsafe and Ghostery. Any website is now basically a pain in the ass but nothing happen without my say-so. But if you're not tech-savvy ...

TL;DR: it's not Chrome, it's not you, it's a little of both.

Chrome is a pill of moocow stinky stuff. Use Firefox or even the bug riddled IE...

I use Microsoft Edge. Never had an issue with it blocking downloads. It tends to find something dangerous even though it is not, but rather than blocking it, it will ask what you want to do with the download. This lets you continue the download.

Firefox = success.

Thanks, all. Happy Trucking!

Firefox ESR. You know, for when you want to run Java or Flash in the browser still. :) Thank me later those who are looking for a browser that can do it.

Different, there is no perfect browser, but it is worth having at least two browsers for anyone that spends a reasonable time online.

I stopped using Firefox after they broke theme support and only made it a tiny banner like it is for Chrome. So, switched to Chrome and it works fine for my needs. I use IE as a backup in the event something on a site isn't working correctly.
