They can. When you buy a tire in the upgrade shop, you'll see an icon with a fuel pump and a letter next to it. The letter tells you how fuel efficient that tire is, with "A" being the best.

Edit: Sorry, I was thinking about ETS2. I had a look in the game files for ATS and there is no variable for fuel efficiency on the tires like there is in ETS2. So no, they are all the same. ETS2 has the icons in the upgrade shop, but not ATS.

I have a feeling though that different tires has different grip and/or degradation levels. I may be wrong though.

They do in ETS2 but not in ATS. There is no system for it in ATS. All tires are cosmetic.

The Michelin DLC for ETS2 is when they added fuel efficiency (roll_resistance), wet grip (wet_grip), and noise levels (noise_volume) to the tires. Since we have no tire DLC for ATS, and we only have 3 tires in the base game, there hasn't been a need to add these variables. All tires perform the same.

Ok, thanks for the information. I knew it about ETS2 but wasnt sure for ATS. Maybe my imagination carries me away a bit :)

Actually, wouldn't this be a reason to add the variability? The lack of a DLC shouldn't preclude the addition of these variables since, as it stands, the three different tires all perform identically. I think that since the functionality has already been added to the game engine, that the tires in ATS should be updated to be different. :)

It's easy to assume that features in one game are also in the other (as I did in my first post), but that is not always the case.

Fair enough, but I guess SCS didn't see it that way.

I know this is a very old thread, but did anyone ever find out? Does the tire brand make a difference or is it all cosmetic/bling?
