The jobs expires in 19 real hours where the estimated delivery time is in game time.
That's confusing lol
Thanks both of you!
Edit: that explains how a job can be done when you have to drive across state lines to pick up the trailer.
Finish external contracts within the real time timeframe given or you will lose it.
So let's say you take a job from Washington to Texas: sum driving and resting time, you'll take more than 2 game days (like in real life). But if the left time of external contracts is 24 real hours, you'll have plenty of time.
For me, it's a little official way to "cheat" delivery times a little. You can take long hauls, stop to rest, and visit landmarks. 😉
Only canceling the contract itself will it penalize with an actual fee. (game updates that reset your position do not penalize you for that in particular)
Take a rest on a bed icon at sunset and "wake up" at dawn without wasting any delivery time.
If you have enabled the developer console you set the time forward to any time you want.
The jobs are generated at the WoT server and the remaining time simply counts down until it expires regardless of job distance.
