External contracts time limit less time than it takes to complete?
I'm looking at the best price per mile contract, and it has about 19.5 hours to be delivered, but it says it will take about 22.5 hours to comlete. I assume I shouldn't take this job, am I right?

Wrong. External contracts is real time. You have 19.5 real life hours to complete the delivery.

The jobs expires in 19 real hours where the estimated delivery time is in game time.

And money doesn't really matter in the game. I have two grages and 5 people working for me. In one day I made 100,000 easy so it's going to accumulate over time very quickly.

That's confusing lol

Thanks both of you!

Edit: that explains how a job can be done when you have to drive across state lines to pick up the trailer.

Not confusing at all, the External contracts are online jobs and run in real time. Time keeps counting on them even when you aren't playing because they are linked to the WoT server.

So to make it clear for newcomers: can it still be an Excellent delivery if the time runs out? If yes, because it’s not an important time: why do we still see that on the map? (I must decide how much to hurry to my destination… :1033:)

If time runs out, the contract is cancelled and will be transferred to another company and you will be charged for their service aka hit with a fee.

Finish external contracts within the real time timeframe given or you will lose it.

It's what Cathulhu posted, but adding to it, you don't need to hurry as long as you take a job with many hours left. Although your driving is still in game scale, the time left for delivery considers only real time.

So let's say you take a job from Washington to Texas: sum driving and resting time, you'll take more than 2 game days (like in real life). But if the left time of external contracts is 24 real hours, you'll have plenty of time.

For me, it's a little official way to "cheat" delivery times a little. You can take long hauls, stop to rest, and visit landmarks. 😉

Eh, far as I know from my experience, this is not true. If you run out of time on the external contract, you'll just be hit with a late penalty and likely not get nearly as much money, if any at all.

Only canceling the contract itself will it penalize with an actual fee. (game updates that reset your position do not penalize you for that in particular)

Another little "cheat" taking advantage of the real time delivery times is to skip dark night driving if you don't like that.

Take a rest on a bed icon at sunset and "wake up" at dawn without wasting any delivery time.

If you have enabled the developer console you set the time forward to any time you want.

Not so. I have delivered a WoT job several (real world) weeks late (yes, as a deliberate experiment - because I play both ETS2 and ATS I sometimes end up with an old job hanging around in one game whilst I've been playing the other) and all that happens is the same 40% reduction in reward you get if you miss the deadline by a minute.

I took an external contract and wasn't looking at the time and I had 5 minutes to deliver the job that was many hours away (of in game time).

Happens sometimes if you don't look how much time is left. But jobs with little remaining time shows this in red. Normally it is blue.

The jobs are generated at the WoT server and the remaining time simply counts down until it expires regardless of job distance.

An easier way to tell apart in-game times and real-life times is the colour: white text for the former, blue text with stopwatch symbol for the latter.

Requesting a tow also cancels the contract.
