Steepest Hill in ATS
Does anyone know what the steepest road/hill is in the base game? California, Arizona, Nevada, (New Mexico)? I'm trying to find out what the steepest grade is in the base game. So far the steepest I know of is the 13% grade going North on the 15 between the 10 and Barstow.

If you know of a steep hill but don't know how to measure it just say where it is here and I'll check it out.

For reference; The hill going North on the 5 before it splits into the 5 and 99 is an ego crushing 5% where the truck is broken down on the shoulder.

I'm not looking for grades in mods, I know Canadreams has some wicked heavy haul hell 22%+ grades. Wanna play with a few? Take a load South out of Labrador City....

On the I-5 near where it meets the CA-99 interchange i felt some steepness there.
What do you figure the grade is on the common off-ramp? Those seem steep by vanilla ATS standards

How do you measure the steepness? I could use that in my map...

Of course the I-80 between Sacramento and Truckee. I love Donner Pass.

I can measure, do you know of a particularly steep one off-hand?

I'll have to grab a transformer and go measure that one!

I use an app on my phone.
Here's a quick tutorial to get you started,

Please don't go over 18%, in fact, I'd limit inclines to about 12% so trucks with a 6x2 chassis layout can climb them.

Donner Pass, absolutely.

I can measure myself with Photoshop, now that I think of that, but if you want to do it I would be grateful. I am certain you would be faster than me. I don't have any particular offramp in mind, just the ones that were common before the map rescale. SLUMCO keeps its office in Las Vegas, there's any number of the off-ramps in that area, or in Cali.

I'm thinking of the ones that exit off the right (naturally), go up and then intersect with the perpendicular highway overpass and are controlled with a stop sign at the top. Since off- and on-ramps were too short in the pre-rescaled map, the grade seemed to me a little stronger than normal. That, and the pre-rescaled map was just too flat.

Donner Pass going East - 9% at its steepest, but it's a long 7 - 9% lol.

Donner Pass going West - 7%, with a long 5% downgrade on the other side. Kind of makes me wish ATS had brake fading.

Highway offramp - 11.7% off 80 East into Truckee.

There's a bit of a climb on the I17 heading north to Flagstaff from Phoenix too I think.

And isn`t it beautiful? The landscape to the right (when driving east) is amazing. :steamhappy:

It sure is, I'll have to route through there more often!

I don't have anything for you, but IRL the road between San Diego and Yuma, before you drop down to the valley by El Centro, is a stupid steep road. ATS has a 35mph zone there, but I was kind of dissapointed it wasn't hilly. I'll have to check out Donner Pass as mentioned above.
