I still want the thrill ya know xD
At 75mph; you can go 7.5mph over which is 82.5 so staying at 81mph is safe. Also going 87 in 80 zones is fine.
It was not until I started doing ETS2 that I realized that. I was wondering why the retarder did not kick in when I gained speed down a hill. It was, just at 5 km/h over the cruise control setting which was not really a problem (5 km/h is less than 5 mph). The EU requires that trucks have governors to prevent them from going over 56 mph (90 km/h) even in the UK where truck speed limit would otherwise be 60 mph. I guess the EU dictating things other than just money related is what spawned BREXIT.
If you have default settings in ATS the cruise control would change in 5 mph increments and could drift up to 5 mph above cruise control setting if your transmission has a retarder. Without a retarder, you could gain more speed down a hill. In that case if you set cruise control at 60 with 5 mph retarder tolerance, you would be ticket bait.
This. Yep, the cops just pop up when it's "convenient".
Especially when you're slowing down because of a speed limit reduction.
There's a roadworks that's notorious for spawning cop cars when you approach it. I read somewhere on the forum a lot players got caught because of this.
I got caught there too and the cops are laying an ambush there.
It's like I see a pattern here. The AI vehicles act like snitches telling the cops where you are.
I swear within a minute, I see a police car near my truck every time I enter the game. Especially when you speed they're laying in ambush and before you know of it you get a speeding violation. Annoying.
Happy
In the gameplay settings, you have a choice of what speed limit to show in Route Adviser.
Let's say you are in California where it is a state-wide law that trucks go 55 Or less, but you want to keep up with traffic.
Set the speed limit in gameplay settings to show the car speed limit. Now, Route Adviser will not yell at you until you pass the car speed limit, which may be 75. Due to this, cops will not yell either. Not sure if this is a big or if it is their for car mods or maybe SCS wanted to add cars at some point.
