Control Changes?
So, I got a new PC and the volume controls are F1-F3. Pausing is F1... Is there a way I can get into some sort of file in this game to change the pause control? It's not in options.

I recall reading that the keys F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, and F8 were hardcoded keys.

But I can't believe your computer would have volume keys on F1-3. That's either very poorly designed(and should not have been sold) or you're confusing F-keys with fn-keys. Many programs use the function keys at the top of the keyboard. Windows itself uses F1 for help, so putting a volume control as F1 is absurd.

I know! I was so annoyed when I went to pause it and it muted the volume. Ugh. So frustrating.

Is this a Dell machine? They have F1 as mute, and F2 & F3 as volume down and up. However, they typically don't work without using the Fn key in combination unless the BIOS has been changed to force it to always have it locked. Try pressing Fn-Esc and see if that reverts those keys back to not be the volume controls. If so, you're good and can then use Fn-F1 for mute, Fn-F2 for volume down and Fn-F3 for volume up.

If the Fn-Esc does NOT work, then you will have to enter the BIOS and change the option to stop it from forcing the media key functions.

Recent laptops typically have F# keys and ACPI functions reversed where ACPI functions are primary functions of the keys and if you really want F1 you would need to press Fn+F1. Another example is a small Logitech K400r wireless keyboard where ACPI functions are primary (white) and numbered function keys are secondary (blue) for use with blue FN key like a shift key.

So you likely just need to look for FN, Fn, or fn key to use like a shift key to get normal function keys to work.
