That's what the mod support is for. It's not hard one you learn how to do it.

I've tried ETS2, Paint.net and Gimp to make and convert skins for ATS - all without any success. For some reason, I can't get my 64-year-old brain to grasp the elements in order to create my own skin(s) for my company. My old Trainz simulator had a custom paintshop and it was great. I've also seen custom paintshops incorporated into other games. So I fully agree that an ATS custom paint job editor would be a truly beneficial asset to the game.

yes esp if the custom paintjobs would be carried over to online play. in fact i think they should implement their own version of online play with even more in depth gameplay options. i could be asking too much. i just got into this game series a few days ago so im not very familiar with this company . but for a product in alpha so far im having a blast.

It's in beta, and SCS does not make the multiplayer mod.
However a paint editor would be a nice touch.

Not in alpha. It's a full release. But World of Trucks is aiming to be a fully-fledged multiplayer. They haven't outright said that, but that's what they hope for. [my interpretation]

World of Trucks's ultimate goal is creating an environment where you - our community - can meet, interact and compete with each other in the expansive trucking world.

Q: Are you planning to convert your Single player game to Multiplayer?
A: World of Trucks is envisioned as an optional layer created alongside the existing single player game. We will keep improving the singleplayer experience and add more features and content to the standard game, but we do not want to overhaul it and "fix" what most players would not consider broken. World of Trucks should -eventually - offer an alternate "metagame" with rich - but controlled - player to player interaction, the possibility to form Virtual Truck Companies, and eventually to make it possible to share the same world and make up convoys in a shared multiplayer game.

They seem to fully intend to make ETS2/ATS more featured in the future. They're making decent progress for the size of their team.

In-game tools to customize the design on our trucks would be nice, too. I'm thinking something like what Gearhead Garage had.

Having an internal editor for paint jobs is never a bad idea, even I'd like to see it. But I work with what I have when it comes to skins for the games.

Course, I'm happy to help get skins into the game though. (once I find something to edit TOBJ files again, I don't think my current copy of ETS2 Studio works right now) I've done a lot of skins for ETS2 and I can do the same for ATS, wouldn't be hard. I just have to get the folder structure from the truck DLC files extracted.

You dont need the scs extractor for truck skins all you need is ets2 studio and the truck templates you can get from https://ijsmods.wordpress.com/american-truck-simulator-mods/.. then start creating at what you want..

I create my own mods without the aid of programs. I only used it for the TOBJ editor because I had more control over what went into the SII files.
