Traffic Stopped 11 Hours
I have been sitting in stopped traffic coming off the bridge going into San Francisco for 11 hours (game time). The game is not locked up as traffic is moving in the other direction. There are trucks in front of me with there hazard lights on and when night came the other vehicles lights came on.There is a curve in the road and I cannot see what's happening. I took a shower and went to dinner and it's still stopped. I only have 50 minutes to deliver the load at the port and I am 19 minutes away.
My question is has this happened to anyone?

I had few serious traffic jams, but never waited for 11 in-game hours. When I see that traffic is seriously stuck, I just reload traffic through console (g_traffic 0 then g_traffic 1), or simply save and re-load game.

That fixed it thanks. I'm not a giver upper and I did not want to loose the load.
I'm a newby to gaming so I am still learning. Thanks again.

Exit the game and start as Goober said. Or push your way to the shoulder and drive past on the shoulder.

Also, consider connecting to WoT and taking External Contracts. They are timed in real time, not in-game time, and you usually have 8-10 or more hours to get job done. However, time does not stop when you exit the game, it keeps going

Yup, and that really sucks when something comes up all of a sudden and you have to save and leave and cannot get back to the game for a number of hours..

I do as margalus does... you can bully your way through by passing on the right, if there's enough room, and you won't even be penalized nor will damage show once your delivery is complete. I also believe Hairy Goober's suggestion works too - I never tried it though.

There was no room to bully past. When entering a freeway and and traffic is stopped waiting to merge I pass on the right and run up the shoulder. Works great. I have not tried it with a wide load though.

Are you running the beta? If not I'd go to SCS' forum and make a bug report regardless.

Every once in a blue moon, I see an AI vehicle, usually a truck, has fallen through some tiny gap in the map and it gets stuck. It will put on its hazards and everything will come to a stop behind it. Yes, this happens on the vanilla map with no mods. It doesn't happen often.

Saving and restarting works.

Damn! 11 hours! Never heard of waiting so long stuck in a traffic jam! :O
Must have been terribly boring. I just save and reload, though I tend to bully my way through the traffic jam, trying not to hit the AI idiots. Usually it's a truck causing the pile-ups and my patience goes down the drain. :steambored:

One of the reasons I had to place my garage in another town/city (I had my home garage in San Francisco), was because of the endless traffic never letting me pull out. The cars and trucks kept spawning worse then rabbits during mating season!

Sitting behind three trucks at the notorious Tonopah intersection was a nightmare brought to reality. Unfortunately the trucks are too slow and stupid to know what to do. After sitting there for several in game hours I got so fed up I had to quit the game. No way I'm sitting behind these idiots. :steamfacepalm:

Speaking of Tonopah .... here you go. :steambored:

Happy :longhaul:in' though

Reloading a game clears traffic.

I didn't say bully, I said "push". You've got a big powerful truck, those little cars are nothing... Lol :steammocking:

You could always just nudge them but be careful this scenario doesn't happen:

Creep forward and geeently push the car/truck in front of you. Sometimes you can bang them with out getting a ticket and at other times the slightest touch will net you a ticket.

Happy :longhaul:in' and teach the AI a lesson.

Yeah, I've had that happen a few times. Shutting the game off and restarting it should start you back with no traffic, then you can get out of there :)

No need for shutting down the game. If you have the console enabled just turn the traffic off and back on again. If not then just do a quicksave and reload it.

Yes, but in a high traffic area it quickly builds up again. I was trying to get out of a lot with a double-bottom close to an intersection, so one of the trailers was still in the driveway. A car came around the corner and stopped. A taxi stopped in the intersection in front of me waiting to make a left to follow him. Cars built up behind me and everyone started honking. So I could not go forward, could not back up. I relaunched the game, but traffic quickly got in my way again. That was the only run I gave up on. I'll have to see if console is enabled in the game or how to enable it.

Another time as I came into a town I noticed gridlock with a truck angled across the intersection and nobody moving on the main road in front of me, so I turned and went a block over to get around it.

Why does AI often stop at the end of an on ramp? That is not something you should do in real life because you have no room to accelerate and merge. I got behind a truck that would not move at the end of an on ramp until I started honking at him.

This is in 1.28 beta (in Linux). Other than that things are coming along. I bought my first truck and now trying to save up enough money to get another garage, another truck, and hire a driver.
