Preferred Chassis
What are your guys' preferred chassis in ATS, 6x2, 6x2 midlift, or 6x4? and why is it your favorite? I'm just trying to find some pros and cons for all the vanilla chassis types as nobody seems to have covered them.

Since released; I use the midlift and prefer 6x2 in general over 6x4. I don't feel the trailers in ATS/ETS benefit from the extra axles. Perhaps if they release heavy oversized loads that will change. Midlift for me is the best balance between the two.

thamk you for your input MosGuy. I know in ETS2 6x2/4 Midlift was my favorite chassis, but I was unsure if the 6x2 Midlift in ATS was as viable

Just the good ol' 6x2 for me. So far, the trailer physics don't demand any more and I am no parking guru so the shorter chassis makes the tougher spots a little easier to handle. I don't care at all about fuel economy or range.

In some of the SCS blog photos, they seemed to hint that heavy trailers might officially make it into the game, since lifting axles are supported but not used in vanilla trucks.

I don't understand why people are saying this. I have vanilla trucks and I have the option to purchase the midlift chassis for them (which was added in patch 1.5). How are they not used on vanilla trucks?

Lifting axles are used in vanilla trucks. I have not modded my game and there is a 6x2 Midlift option. The axle can be raised and lowered the same way as it is in ETS2 as well.
