WINDOWS 10 64 BIT UPGRADE
I need to install Windows 10 64 bit. I now have Windows 7 64 bit. ATS is running perfect with lots of mods. Anyone switch operating systems and kept ATS the way it was? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am runing this game on 32 bit Windows 10, and I have had no trouble with it. I will be upgading to 64 bit soon.

i run 64 bit W10 and I've had no problems at all. For the most part, long as your graphics card and such is on par, you'll do fine.

Same here. I've switched to Windows 10 64 bit quite a while ago and have no issues.

Switched to 10 and have had no problems.
I'm on the insider builds and everything is fine for even that

Same, upgraded to Win10 64 some time back, no issues at all with any of my games. I didn't like the Win10 start menu, so I use Classic Shell[www.classicshell.net] to give me a Windows7 look/feel.

W10 64bit, no problems.

The game runs on Win10x64. Make certain you get the latest drivers, since Win10 had a habit of resetting them sometimes.

Runs fine on Win 10 64 bit. It`s just Win 10 that`s CRAP

i don´t know what´s crap about it. no problems with it, the backwards compatibility to older programs is even better than on win7, that´s a plus for me

@OP: i would still recommend you make a fresh install, it can cause some trouble if you just update. that means: make backups of your important stuff, like the ATS user files

you can try just the upgrade, it can work. but as i said, i´d recommend a fresh install of everything

I am doing a fresh install OF wINDOWS 10. Just wondered if there was any kind of special procedure for restoring the backup of Windows7 files and programs. THANKS ALL WHO REPLIED.

That's a complicated question. From a fresh install, Win 10 will (or should) automatically adjust compatibility for Win7 programs you install afterwards. If not, there's a compatibility wizard you can access by searching for it using the Win 10 search.

User files you back up manually. So, restoring those is case by case. The Win 10 file structure is kind of similar to the Win 7 structure, so there are times where you just drop your files into the same folder in 10 as in 7 and there you go.

If you go the upgrade route, your Win 7 OS user files are stored in a win.old file. However Win 10 upgrading is messy.

As for a special procedure, sacrificing the blood of a chicken while incanting Bill Gates' name backwards can't hurt and might help, although your immortal soul will belong to the central server in the hot place after that.

EDIT: I find it's not installing Win 10 that's difficult, nor is it re-installing your old programs. It's the fershlugginer auto-update system that makes me weep like Hillary on election day.

Thankyou
oh and another tip: if you wanna get rid of some of the "E.T. call home" features of Win10, look for "do-not-spy-10" and get that... you can adjust alot of things you want to disable or not
but handle with care and read up on what does what
