4x2 Drivetrain/Chassis
We need to be able to buy some cheap single axle tractors. They're also great for parking in those hard to get places.

The drawback would be that you can't take contracts over your weight rating.

The inverse would apply for tri-axle trucks, you would get access to oversized loads that pay more.

AFAIK 4x2 is not a very common American style truck. I'm in Canada and honesty I don't really recall seeing that style of truck.

As far as parking in hard to get places, the day cab has a shorter wheel base and turns very well in tighter places. SCS has also introduced a midlift chassis (6x2) which people have reported that it turns a little better as there is less friction than the 6x4.

I hope they add 4x2 chassis when they get to North Eastern US. I see them every day in NYC and around. Although I think they are used mostly within urban area, it would be great to see them in the game. Hopefully, SCS introduces advanced weight management by that time, so 4x2 would really keep player within urban area

I usually see this configuration with delivery semi trucks like beer, soda drinks, etc. Some FedEx trucks as well.

Yeah I was really shocked SCS didn't add the 4x2 options. Those are your local drivers, aka Pepsi, Coca-Cola, beer, even some furniture companies, just like what Dakota said. 4x2 and tri-axles should be soon, just because America :D

are we talking trailer pulling, 42,000lb trucks here or smaller ones, maybe even 12tonners or what ever?

like this one appears much smaller/ lighter than what we drive http://media-cdn.timesfreepress.com/img/photos/2012/05/15/051612_WEB_b_TrucksBanned_t800_h1fe9a3c11c097caace6e50d4c9d1f071a1df70c1.jpg maybe around 20tons total?

and ATS is all about the big rigs

bringing more variety into it might work with quick jobs... or it would take some GIANT changes in the game mechanics, meaning time and more time again ... i think it´s more important to make the game bigger for now

I see the 4x2 chassis trucks pulling the smaller trailers we have in the game, and probably could pull the lighter of the long trailers
CaptainHazzard92 Jan 22, 2017 @ 12:11pm
most every 2axle ive seen was pulling doubles or known empty/light load long trailers

Yeah, I'm talking about single axle semi-tractors. Not all of these loads are heavy. Many can be handled by a single screw tractor hauling 60-70k lbs combined vehicle weight.

Also, tri axles would let you haul heavy oversized loads.

It would be cool if you could have a diversity of trucks to handle different jobs.

I don't see how it would require any giant changes. You get access to cheaper trucks, and are limited to what you can haul without busting an axle (Or more importantly) getting nailed by the cops for being overweight.

I see single axle tractors on a daily basis, and I live in farm lands California.
