i5 7400 with 1060gpu 8gb ram will be plenty for ATS cost around $900 probadly one selling on Amazon or you can build your own. I would avoid 1060 gpu and below and get I5 cpu or ryzen r5 1500x for cpu. People blow money on 16 gb of ram and 8gb will be plenty for ATS and majority of games

Hello! You should definitely go to the Build A PC subreddit. Reddit.com/r/buildapc they and their partner subreddits can definitely help you get sorted out. Especially with that healthy price range.

I just love it when truck drivers, especially veterans like you, join the virtual trucking community!

There should be some reputable computer stores around that can help you. I say it's better to make a custom build than some pre-packaged PC, since you'll be far less likely to buy stuff you don't need.

Are you budgeting for game controllers? You'll likely want a decent wheel and pedals, and I really hate buying a driving or flying game that does not support TrackIR (ATS and ETS both do support TrackIR!).

Good to hear another "old trucker" getting into this game. 30+ years driving, I miss being on the road. The game ATS helps fill the hole in my heart.

As for a less than 1k computer, its a challenge. You may want to consider some of the Supermicro "bare bones" (need to buy CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, Video seperate) but a few of the "gameing" bare bones can be be found for about 4-500 (motherboard, power supply, case)
Take a look at the Z270, Z170 motherboards or a barebones with one installed.

Hey "overeasy2011"
This is my recomendation.m The game as of right now favors more of the cpu rather than the graphics card, so put more money on that side... My recomendation with a cpu would have to be a intel broadwell e family line great cpu along with the new intel max turboboost 3.0 is great but the price on them is pretty high..
Then theres ryzen wich is a very good cpu but there still a little lackluster in performance with intel cpu's.. I think alot of it is just compalibility promblems with hardware at this time..
If you plan on someday though for any reason you would like to do game streaming. A Ryzen cpu will completely beat out a intel cpu in better quality and perfprmance. Then for the gpu i would go with a 10 series card ..
Just a quick note leave the FX cpu 's alone there pretty cheap but you have to ovetclock them to a great extent just to get any kinda good performance with this game.
if you have any question or what not just send a message or something i tested this game with all types of hardware even up to the i7 6950x cpu
Anyways good luck and welcome to the community

Glad to hear other road drivers are getting into ATS. I was a road driver for 30+ years and miss the freedom and comradship of the road. I'm running an I7-3770 @3.40GHz and ATS runs just fine.

Take a look at CYBERPOWERPC at Amazon. They specialize in Gaming computers. I bought one. It's a fantastic machine.
