Euro Truck simulator 2 versus American truck simulator?
What is the best game in overall perspective?

I look at graphics, gameplay and compatibility with a racing wheel.

content wise...that would be ETS 2 as ATS has only 3 states/3 trucks for now but if you want to drive in america than go ATS

ETS2 is more optimized than ATS. I get constant 60 fps on ETS2 on ultra, but not on ATS. On the latter, fps rate will drop below 60 when driving in town. GTX 1070, i5 6660k, 16GB of RAM, installed on SSD. The recommended settings are clearly underestimated and misleading, they should change those for two GTX 1080 in SLI and the latest i7 cpu overclocked at 5ghz together with 64GB of RAM.

Its just the opposite for me. I struggle to get 60 fps in ETS 2. ATS I get 60fps almost every time. i5 6400 with 8GB of ram with a 750ti.

Personally I like the look of the American Trucker a bit better for graphics. Also I get more stable frame rates in AT. The steering wheel should be the same.

ET 2 strengths is it has more cities and more content overall because its been out longer. It also has more trucks inside the game. Both games are equally good.

Gameplay should be the same (but it should be noted that American trucks are obviously harder to control since they are bigger), but graphic-wise ATS definitely wins, despite it having only three states as of now. I fell in love with ATS despite being from Europe, I don't play ETS2 at all anymore.

If you're looking for content, ETS2 obviously wins. But on the other hand, if more people started playing this game instead of ETS2, maybe SCS would finally devote more time to this game. It's not like they don't work on this game, but I feel like they always have more things planned for ETS2.

Well they are working on some big things for American Trucker. The new states are going to take a bulk of their time. Also from the way I understand it AT is going to get the Heavy Cargo DLC eventually down the line.

If you like North American landscapes, if you love really heavy looking trucks, and if you prefer feeling of being alone with your truck along the desolate American deserts, then go with American Truck Simulator. Euro Truck Simulator is not worse than ATS, however, it has a different athmosphere -apart from menus, of course xD-. And, despite having less content, ATS will get lots of DLC packs in the future. Some will be paid, some will be free.

About game optimisation, neither ATS nor ETS2 is perfectly optimised, but they are over the threshold of offering 90% smooth gameplay. Hence, do not get hold up on hardware restrictions.

Well, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unfair, i got a better computer than you and worse performances. Stupid game.

As far as I know, you can cut and paste the control files from one game to the other, so controls aren't an issue unless you are using something truly exotic. Both games handle the common brands of wheels and pedals without major issue. A lot of people will also use USB control boxes and head tracking like TrackIR as well. If memory serves, you can combine up to five custom controllers into either game.

I'd say the major difference is the map.

ETS2 currently has far more content (and even more with mods) but the quality of different parts of the map really varies.

ATS has less content, but the quality is high everywhere.

And like ☎need4naiim☎ said, the atmosphere is just different. For me as a European, ETS2 feels more like home but ATS feel more exotic.
DeadlyPaperCut 13 ABR 2017 a las 5:20 p. m.
Difference are more about trucks, Euro Truck has those flat nose truck and ATS got those big beast with the big nose.
Other then this, on one side, you got the Europe, well developped and more then finish with lots of new update / addons, While American truck is in America with a USA not finished.

For now, I would suggest you to forget about ATS for a couple years, they are too slow to work on it, each update they do, they do it for euro truck too.
New state doesnt come at all. Lots of promisses with no result for now.
While euro truck map is huge... really huge, you will get lots of fun in this one ;)

They have done a few updates on ATS like making the entire map much bigger then when it originally came out. The new maps are supposed to be coming out this year. I think its going to be a great year for ATS. I lived in New Mexico in Belen.
