Invisible license plates because of the "OVERSIZE LOAD" sign
When you put the "OVERSIZE LOAD" sign on your truck, the sign overlays the license plate on the truck. Is that legal in real life? Shouldn't the plate be moved onto a visible place on the truck? I'm just curious.

I asked the same question during beta, apparently it is legal for commercial vehicles or this type.

Basically because of all the permits involved everyone who needs to know about you and your vehicle and the journey does know and the legal requirements of the oversized banner are more important than front license plate.

The answer came from a US trucker who is also a beta tester, so I assume he knows what he's on about.

I real life you are not suppose to cover up the license plate. But this is a game. I doesn't matter. Its kinda like having the license on the rear of the tractor in this game. In the USA in real life we don't have rear license plates on tractors. Only the front. Its also like having signs on the overpasses. The law says that you can not advertise off of a US Highway and bridges. The signage need to be 50 feet from the right away. But this game has all that.

It may depend from state to state, just like everything else :) Here in South Dakota we are required to have plates on the front but I have seen trucks with oversize load covering the front here as well. I see a lot of trucks here.

Bobtail flat or box need the tags. But the semi tractor doesn't need the rear tags. They are pretty much hidden by the trailer and are to hard to read with a trailer. So the tractor has one on the front unless he is registered in another state then it will have that states tag add to it also..The trailer has one tag. If doubles each trailer will have its very own tag with a different number.

Depends on the State. However I do suspect the Oversized Load sign is given a higher priority over the front license plate as it serves a safety purpose and not just identification.

There should be a keboard key to put the Oversized Load sign on/off.

Sometimes we dont get a Oversized Load and have to take a ordinary load.

Dont think its legal to drive ordinary loads with the Oversized Load sign up?

I agree on all three counts HansOlav.
One more point too...
There should be a visible icon (light) on the dash for "Diff-Lock."
Sometimes I'm half way through the gears when I'm notified that my diffs are locked.

There is.

Not on all the trucks dashboards. You have to look for the diff lock toggle switch on the dash and it will light up on that switch on some of the trucks.

Hmmm. There is an icon on the FH Volvo, but I'll have to look harder on others.
I have noticed the "beacon" switch on some trucks.
Thanks BlackHillsHntr.
