One annoying feature in ATS
It's only slightly annoying though, after all ATS is the best truck sim game ever produced. And yes many have written about this before, but I want to add my pea to the soup because this is a real problem, small but real.

I'm talking about the 99% even and bumpless ride . IRL we all know driving isn't like that.

Those of us who must pull heavy loads for living know a bit more. A heavy load always makes the cab shake a lot more than it would do without a load. If a loaded trailer gets a hit from a bump, it gives the light cabin an amplified shake. Pulling loads can be quite shaky, and it's never completely smooth like in ATS. Shaking also produces noise in the cab.

Shaking bumps and especially reactions of the cab are almost completely missing from ATS. Also smaller jitter when driving on cracked asplhalt for example. You can see the road is not in perfect condition, but the cab or it's soundscape do not react.

If SCS could cure this one thing, ATS would be nearly perfect. For me at least.

I'm not sure how SCS can implement something like this that would make sense...

It is true the roads are never perfect. (I mean, my city has a hard time just filling pot holes >.> - one gets filled, 5 more show up. Oh, the one they "filled"? Its crap again.. all they do is bandaid the situation, never actually fix....)

I think due to how all the road prefabs are made, it doesn't... seem feasible currently since more would have to be made to try and stay somewhat unique. Even then, I'm not entirely sure whether or not this is currently possible.

Simulated bumps and cab shaking could be implemented, but the roads would have to stay the same. I agree, though. This would be great. Just riding down the street in my town, I can see the trucks shaking like crazy on smooth roads.

closest I ever get to this feeling is using the realistic physics mod, still doesn't shake the cab but does feel more like you're pulling a full trailer

When I saw this title I immediately thought of the "invisible" hit boxes throughout the map.

They are use to roads in Europe which are no where near as bad as the roads here in the US. Some of our roads have not been repaved in over 20 years.

This is more than a question about road quality. Merely like a principle: IRL truck ride is rarely smooth, but in ATS it is always smooth as silk.

Empty truck rides reasonably smooth. When loaded they become shaky, because when driving over bumps the heavy load shakes the relatively light cab like a bump-amplifier.

I wonder if ATS developers have ever experienced a ride with a loaded truck going 55 mph.
( doesn't change the fact they have created an amazing, lovely truck sim )

The sad part is that SCS actually has decent FF effects on the DIRT ROADS. That feels much more realistic than the buzzing engine alone through FF. All they need to do is make most roads just like the Dirt Roads (the ff effect) and viola, reality.... In Kalifornia our roads are a third world style embarrassment. Just like our ctrl-left Govt.

I'm glad you just added a pea to the soup and not an oinonhead... agree 100%

I saw a pretty badly paved road section in one of their recent NM wip screenshots.
Some of their current roads don't look that new either
They do the textures, but it's just kinda wrong when it feels all clean...

I absolutely love this game, but if details like that found their way in, I'd be even happier ;)

^^^ this ^^^
is easily implemented throughout the map. Easier than changing truck physics because the one physics file is global (same as ETS2) and would need a game restart each time you drive with a trailer and again without a trailer.

Force feedback, when you hit a speed bump you can fell the wheel moving

I wouldn't say best truck sim, not yet anyway, ETS2 has alot more feautures

They have the exact same amount of features. Unless you count the ferry as an adiditional feature.

It's the same game engine ...
Exactly the same game engine ...

I get alot of feedback in my wheel. Heck, because I have to use a fan right now to cool my case off, I even get feedback at my feet.
