Did it recognize that you had a X-box controller in your settings? And then hit "set up controller?"
Mine doesn't recognize the big triggers, but I could use the smaller top buttons above the triggers. And I was using the X,Y,B,A buttons without issue, that's how i was dropping nades (you'll get a "back light ON" warning, which is apparently a really drone warning .
Later my friend recommended using a 3rd party app to emulate 360 controller. x360ce.exe.
That solved my problems in the other games, because i could just pick the virtual "xbox 360 controller", and everything worked. I was playing MGS3 on my other account and Katamari on this one, no problems whatsoever.
NOT in FPV drone, though. It doesn't see the emulated gamepad AT ALL, and no matter if i use the Steam input, the generic controller profile, it never allows me to map d-pad or triggers. So, i'm giving up at this point.
Games that don't allow me to fully customize the settings are sadly unplayable to me. I'm getting too freakin' old to unlearn what's basically in my muscle memory.
So, unless the devs change the way the game detects controllers in a major way, i won't be able to play it.
If i could, i'd refund. But i can't so i shan't.
It detected my 3rd party X-box controller without issue, and I've never used one before, ever.
USING THE STEAM INPUT (on the library page) MESSED IT UP, TURN OFF USING STEAM CONTROLLER INPUT, AFTER I TURNED THAT OFF THE GAME DETECTED THE CONTROLLER AFTER I LOGGED IN.
I had used the Steam input thing after I got done playing, just to see what it did. what did it do, it made the game NO LONGER DETECT MY CONTROLLER.
Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling again, since you did that deletion thing. though I haven't had to do anything weird like that. I could give the name of the controller i bought off amazon for $20 if that would help?
